The N54 FMIC kit may fit the N55.... Please review
I have been trying to research the difference between the 2 kits. And buy looking the the engine pics below i cant see the major difference between the two. Im sure us n55 guys can use the n54 intercooler kits with no problem with slight modification. Helix is the only company that has the n55 intercooler kit available and they use the same intercooler for both kits. Only difference would be the lower charge pipe.
Why haven't any of the other major companies tried to modify the charge pipe to have a direct PNP FMIC kit for the n55 yet???? Why is there no love for the n55?? http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1243372725 http://media2.paultan.org/i/n55b30-1.jpg http://www.bimmerfile.com/wp-content...ine-7096_1.jpg http://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/att...hmentid=271792

I think i am going to get the AMS one and just modify the piping. Shouldn't be that hard. I don't wanna pay 700+ for a intercooler.
I did the same thing for my other turbo car. |

that IC looks great,
there is no problem like with Subaru of BMW making a big stink about switching out an IC, correct? also...if you want a bigger FMIC do you need to alter much else or can you fit one that has a little larger core? |

i've seen both the n54 and n55 IC side by side, although similar they are not the same. a n54 IC might work on a n55 but is going to need custom IC piping because the inlet and outlet ARE diferent and the outlet pipe from the n55 is diferent from the n54 one.....
there's also a forum member that tried the AMS n54 IC on a n55 and it didn't work. |
