I'm told the F30 sedan will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September with the new 3 series arriving in different markets sometime in 2012. But I just want to know when it will be coming to HK. And how many of you guys plan to get it.

Personally, while I have a certain fondness for the E30 and E46, the E90 design has grown on me, in my biased opinion, I think it's the best of the Bangle designs.

In the mean time, I think BMW HK will start offering discounts to clear E90 stock when the time comes, but that would be a big hit in depreciation, resell value-wise.

i am guessing it would be a while... most likely in the summer in 2012

I am gonna either get this or the 1 series... if the 3 series grows up too much

Yeah I don't really like the fact that the 3 series keeps growing larger (and heavier) with each generation. I mean, the current E90 is the same size as the original 5 series.

BMW should seriosuly focus on keeping the size (and weight) growth in check for the F30.

If the next generation 1 series is looks nice and performs well, I will seriously consider "downgrading" myself to a 1 series.

I may order a F30 for company usage and will sell it once we're done with it. Or just get a second hand F10 .....depends on the F30 pricing.

I hope the new F30 won't have as many electronic gremlins as the E90. As great as the E90 is to drive, it's such a pain in the arse when all those electronic gizmos start breaking down after a year or two.

the current 1 series (E82 - coupe) is not any better.. I had a radio problem a day after I got the car.

To be honest though if I can get a 125 or 135 for the price of a 323 or 320 I much prefer the former to the latter.

and besides from the renders I think the f20 is going to look brilliant

Yeah is it me or has recent bimmers seem to drop in reliability. Driving-wise, the performance and handling gets better with each generation (i.e. The E90 drives better then the E46 which drives better then the E36 etc), but each generation gets more complicated electronics which then fails on a more frequent and irritating basis. I mean, my steering lock has failed yet again (and this after I already took it to fix) and this is such a $%^"!$ when you can't turn on the engine because of the steering lock failure.

So I hope the F30 (or F20-since I just might get a 1 series next) not only drives and performs better, but is also more reliable!!

John, I think that's out of the question... "reliability" will just get worse and worse...

But, I suppose BMW cannot be blamed because it's not really reliability going down, but it's the amount of parts are going up. For example the E36 had less than 10 computers on board, but the E90 has more than 40. Just think about the abbreviations we have now ABS, ECD... etc etc) those are all run by computers which in turn runs the car.

Taking this point to the extreme, NASA guarantees a 99.8% reliability on its space shuttles, but because of the number of parts there are on the space shuttle, that's still more than 1000 parts that can go wrong.

So there you have it... and don't expect too much

Yeah, when I had my E36 back in Canada way back, I just did'nt have to worry about so much issues. I don't understand why they have to put so many computers in the car these days...maybe I'm just old school but that pure driving enjoyment is what I like most about BMW. of course, it's hard not to expect much when you pay for car out of your own hard-earned cash, but I wonder how BMW compares in reliability to Audi or Mercedes?
