e90 m3 replica bumper w/ fogs install question
My brother is having his e92 m3 replica bumper installed at a local body shop as we speak and that said they had to take off the brake duct off each side as well as the oil cooler duct off the passenger side as well. Does this sound about right? Does this apply to the e90 as well? I will be putting my m3 replica bumper on my e90 but I will be doing it myself.
I was wondering if I could get some feedback from someone who has installed the m3 replica bumper before. Thanks

You're correct as the brake ducts and oil cooler duct must be either removed or trimmed to get the E90and E92 M3 style front bumper to fit properly. You can check out some feedback and installed pictures from my customer and fellow forum member seej333 below. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions at all!

my bumper came with a little packet of u shaped brackets and long screws, 2 shorter brackets and 1 long one. I didn't realize what they were for until I got the bumper on. the m3 replica bumper for the e90 actually sits a little lower in the middle than the lower trim it screws to. that's what the 3 longer brackets are suppose to be for. However when you go to put them in, the 2 outer shorter ones fit fine and suck the bumper back up a little. If you try to put the long one in, it actually would bow the bumper down quite a bit in the center. I may just leave that center one out or maybe get another shorter support bracket. It's seems all 3 brackets should have been the same. What do you think?

From my understanding and what, I've read only the 335 have the brake ducting and of course the oil cooler ducting, so yes the cutting or removal of any ducting is only applied to owners with a 335

What I don't understand is that the lower support trim on the car that the bumper screws to actually curves up in the middle, and the middle part of of the m3 style bumper curves down. I don't get why the e92 fits fine, but for some reason my e90 m3 style bumper came with a few u shaped brackets and longer screws to support the gap in the middle. If I don't use the brackets and longer screws and try to use the stock short screws, it bows the bumper up alot and no way is it suppose to do that. I wasn't able to use the center longer bracket, just the 2 shorter ones for the outer end screw holes for the middle big grill area, cause the one supplied was way to long and would actually bow the bumper down the middle and make it not look right again.

Has anyone had any problems putting in the 7 screws, particularly the middle 3, underneath when installing your e90 m3 replica bumper?

Yes, its a pain in the ass, but go slow and youll get it. Try pulling the undercarriage covers toward the bumper/ screw, instead of trying to push the screws twoard the hole.

It's the same process as if you were to buy a M-sport front bumper. There is a special wiring harness that you can purchase straight from the dealership as to do the conversion without having to splice the wires. I'd recommend that you contact your local dealership to get that part!

Installed this bumper and am perplexed by the bracket to engine cover plate as well. While I used the brackets and the bumper is esthetically ok, I'm concerned that the gap and decreased lower plate stability may become problematic at high speed (the track).
I've learned the tischer kit includes a new engine cover plate and fenders to fit the underside of their M3 mod bumper appropriately. Question is, if I order these cover plates, will they fit this bumper from **********s? It would be a much smoother finish to the underside. |

he told me that splicing was still required, i was under the impression that there was just a plugnplay adapter... I'm having my bumper installed in next few days and am very nervous about the fog lights and about the oil cooler ducting... what have people trimmed it with and how much trimming would you say is required? |

Make sure you get the right harness. Remember that the bulbs have male terminals. |
