BMS Powerbox????

Hey guys so i just read up some information about the BMS Powerbox and it seems pretty cool with the adjustable maps and everything but my question is if there is really a noticeable difference with it. Do your guy's cars actually feel more responsive/faster? any help is appreciated.

Not sure if it matters but i drive an e90 330i so if there is any special circumstances specific to the 330i please let me know.

Also, if you guys know any sites where i could get one for a good deal please leave a link or if you yourself are selling one PM me. Thanks.

I disagree. For the people with a 6AT, it's the best bang for buck especially since it's plug and play and only $200. I have one and I love it, especially since I'm still under warranty and can turn it on/off whenever I please.

I have one on my 330i, and I love the throttle response, but I don't feel like you gain anything, or anything discernible to a butt dyno with it

Any aftermarket mods can void your warranty. Tunes are not supposed to be traceable; I have never had any problems with my Power Box at the dealership. The only way to find the PowerBox is to open the ECU, which they are not going to unless there is a hug problem. But I found the best thing is to find a friend or get in cool with a service guy at the dealership, so if you do mods the car they will not care that much.

The friend I have at the dealership that does all my service and he knows I have mods and his answer is, as long as there are not codes or errors we are good. But if I come in with a code or error I will have to change the aftermarket mod to stock to see if it corrects the error/code. This doesn't apply to BMW Performance mods. So that is the best thing I would do is make a friend at the dealership and you should be okay.

Makes zero difference at the track. If DS and manual shift aren't doing it for you then step up to the AA tune when your warranty runs out. I'd much rather spend the 200 on exhaust then a throttle booster.

Installed my PBX yesterday (thanks for sending it quick Mike)..

After reading other topics and feedback about the PBX, as I expected there are performance gains but they're not huge.. However, throttle response has improved significantly (which is exactly what I was looking for and the reason for buying the PBX)..

I usually drive with the kids in the car so I have to drive relatively sensible. The PBX may not suit everybody but to me the PBX is well worth the money.

bump. not really interested in pbx anymore. figured if i'm going to get a tune might as well drop a little more cash and get something that actually performs. is there anything better than an active autowerke tune?

AA tune gets the most power safely from our engines (not a whole lot left to gain). I have it and I am thrilled with it. Dynos will show your power gains. I haven't dyno'd, but I know some folks here have. It is a true tune, and AA has been in the tuning / performance arena for 20 plus years. Viral and Omar are great as well, they patiently and politely answered all of my concerns over the phone. Don't even hesitate, buy with confidence- you'll thank all of us I am certain

If someone would bother coming up with a cam for us like the schrick cams for the older bmws it would really get our throttle response dialed in and actually make a worth while performance upgrade.

i also have the PBX. the car does pull harder in map 3 mode and it's the only mode i use. going with stock just feels so sluggish. i don't need the extra power so the PBX feels perfect for me. I may reconsider going with the AA Tune in the future if i do get a BMW Performance Exhaust however.

From N54Tuning site:

Quote:
How to Switch Maps from the Driver's Seat
Insert the keyfob and press the start button to turn the ignition on (lights on the dash but the engine is not running). Press and hold the gas pedal down to the floor for 4 seconds or more, then release. This puts the Power Box into listen mode. If you start the engine at this point you will be on map 0. For performance maps press the gas pedal to the floor and quickly release one time for each map you would like to select. For example, for map 3 press and release the gas 3 times, then start the engine. Your map setting will be saved until it is changed.
