My e92 has been pulling to the right for weeks. The dealer has done multiple alignments and swapping tires from other vehicle and in the end my vehicle still pull hard to the right. So dealer says we dont know whats wrong with ur vehicle and tells me give us a couple of days to come up with some ideas. Ya right!!! So I feel if its not the alignment or tires the only thing i can think of is one of the brake calipers is dragging. I did some research on-line of found that brake calipers drag 9 times out of 10 because lack of lube on caliper slide pins. I believe Bentley BMW manual states NO lube should be put on caliper pins. Anyways I removed all four brake caliper slide pins and lubed them up with 3M silicone brake lube and guess what my vehicle goes straight down the road with no pulling...no drifting and steering wheel is center out nicely.

I lubed my pins as well. Not sure why the bentley manual would tell you otherwise.

If the brakes were dragging THAT bad and it was enough to pull you one way you would be able to roll your window at any anytime and smell the brakes. Did you notice the pads on the side it was pulling were more worn?

BMW says don't. My pads on right were slightly worn more. I noticed my gf 2009 335i with 12k miles pulls to right also. I'm thinking BMW should start to lube these caliper pins.

I would simply drive around and check for high temperature on that wheel/caliper for evidence of the brakes sticking. Brake smell is also a tell tell. My E46 had it and I could definitely feel the high heat from the wheel and the hot brakes smell. Otherwise I doubt it's that.

How about LIGHTLY lubed caliper pins? I'm surprised that BMW said no, don't lube them?? it doesn't make sense.

Could it be due to application of lube where it may alter braking performance? That's all I could think of... sometimes it's more about liability.

my car drives way better. Night and day better. No pulling and freeway speeds and no out of control braking. I'm a happy camper now. Glad I fixed this myself. My dealer techs need to get back to school for more training. It's pretty bad when ur not a BMW tech and u figure it out after a little bit of research.

Hmmm. I'll have to try lubing my pins this weekend. My front right brake has started to stick just a little bit on occasion. Sounds like this might be the solution.

it's very easy to do. Make sure u have a 7mm hex socket tool. Lube them lightly with a 3M silicone lube. It Won't damage rubber boots.

Yes. I just did a light coat. No problems since I serviced them about 15k miles ago.

hi, i got the pins lubed on all four brakes last night, must admit it does not stick as much but still does stick occasionally, my car is an auto so is annoying when it has a delay of a second or so before brakes release when i let go of the brake,

i asked the mechanic what he used to grease and he said copper grease

do you guys think it will not do the trick with copper grease or might i potentially have to replace callipers?

3M lube works great.

not as far as i am aware, no other auto i have driven 'sticks' it should roll straight away.

might have to do it myself this time, but now will have to clean out the copper grease first

It is strange the the Bentley manual will say that.

We have been using a very nice caliper guide lube from MB for years for day to day brake repairs at our repair shop. It doesn't hurt to give it a try or just replace both the bushing and pin with new ones and see if the problem goes away first.
