iDrive controller update/swap
just finished the idrive controller swap on my 07 328xi, here are some pics/guide
the old, getting started out new vs old, the camera really captures the wear on the old piece swaped parts (once installed in the car, one can't tell the difference between the tray cover and new piece) all done everything works, no error codes, just have to get used to it now |

This mod is a must, i'm pretty happy with the results since i did mine. One more thing, mine didnt work at first because the car's sw was never updated, after the dealer reprogrammed to the latest one it worked as intended. |

Shortcuts? You mean the NAV, Tel, CD/radio, etc?
You can hold the old iDrive controller in the direction of the menu you want for more than 2 seconds and it will jump to the screen you were previously on, when you exited that menu. For example: If you're in the NAV section, pull the wheel toward you (for audio) and it will bring you to the last menu you were in when you left the audio section. |

Definitely interested in doing this. I'm also thinking up upgrading the shifter while I have it open.

After the update the idrive will look the same as before but it will recognize the new controller and the buttons will work properly.
