Angry Delays!

New Member here,

Purchased my 335xi M Sport back in Dec. I have been tracking the car since and the it has been in the body shop since Dec 17th, estimated completion time of Feb 2nd!

Anyone else in the same situation?

Thanks

I ordered my 11' M-Sport Coupe on Jan 7, 2011 and the build was completed Jan 21. It has been sitting at the port waiting for a vessel since Mon Jan 24.

Chris, you sure that your car is waiting at the port for a vessel since 01/24? Mine finished production same day as yours and status since a week ago is "waiting for a carrier". Usually that means, it is in "Assembly complete status/QC Check", waiting for a carrier to transport it to the port of exit to wait for a vessel. What is the 800 # stating?

o98eclipse, I just called the 800 # for the second time today. Usually call right when I get to the office. But anyways the exact message it tells me is "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel." Its been the same message since Mon 1/24.

Man, that's good for you, sucks for me. Yours must have made it to a carrier faster than mine to the port of exit. Mine finished production same day as yours and its still at the waiting for carrier stage. argh!

This is my first experience in ordering a BMW my previous one I just purchased off the lot. So i'm really not sure how long they usually sit at the port before it actually ships.

My family ordered two cars on 12/26:

1. 528i: Finished production and awaiting shipment
2. 335i: No production date yet.

Chris, are you on the east or west coast? If on the west, it takes about 6-8 weeks. It depends on the # of cars that are at the port waiting to be shipped. The next ship to the West is the Don Juan which is scheduled to leave the port tomorrow. The next one is Feb 12th for the Maersk Wind. It sould suck if mine is on the Maersk as then it takes an additional 3 weeks from the time my car has finished production to actually getting on a ship for travel to the west coast.

o98eclpise, not on a coast i'm in Omaha. Though I must tell you seeing where your from that San Diego is one of my favorite cities. I have family out there. From looking at my build sheet my car is to port in Baltimore. Anyway you can findout if there is a ship departing for Baltimore or does one ship make numerous stops along the east coast? Thanks for your help.

Chris

Chris, I'm not too sure about deliveries to the east coast, but I believe they go to New Jersey first before heading down to Baltimore. Vessels that go to the West Coast don't go to the East first. As far as how to track them, there is a sticky thread on the main page of this forum that can direct you on tracking it. Once you confirm what vessel you are in, you can literally track it through the vessles website and see real time where the vessel is at, how many knots it is going, what the vessel looks like, etc. It's pretty cool! Check it out!

Very nice, I went with a 2011 335i xdrive M-Sport Alpine White / Black Dakota. Learned my lesson with my 07' 335i rwd and dealing with snow. Figured xdrive will help in the winters here. 6-speed this time!

Did you have snow tires on the RWD? Just wondering as I'm looking to order in a month or so and not sure if I should get xDrive w/ all seasons or RWD and dedicated winters.

Lawgone, I wish I could give you some insight on that decision. I never put snow on my RWD always parked it when snow hit the ground.

Ordered mine Dec. 6 and it has said estimated completeion Feb. 2. Yesterday it said Feb. 1. Today it says Feb. 1. BMW said it should take another 3 weeks if you live on the east coast. Must be in the same factory. Dealer said they were fixing engine issues?

I called my CA today, says completion date is now Feb 8th. I checked W&W's schedule and am hoping it will arrive here around the first week of March assuming that it is completed next week.

Let me know how your delivery goes!

I ordered mine on Jan 10th and the build completed Jan 24th...a 335xi coupe (AW/Beige). When I called this morning it said "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel" as well...it has been in this status for a couple of days now.

Not Alone

I placed my order on Jan 1st. for the car in my sig. I still don't have a production date and my lease expires on the 18th. My dealer was upfront when I placed my order that a delivery date was a wild card because of the anticipated production schedule. It appears that the coupes are being built and are shipping, not so for the sedans.

I'm not sweating it - it will get here when it gets here. They will extend my lease until the car arrives. The silver lining is that he believes my car will get the 6NR option.
