Thanks To Cobb AccessPort I have a new Fuel pump :)
![]() The whole reason why I'm writing this is to say the dealer replaced the fuel pump, fuel pressure sensor and reprogramed the car with a new ISTA DME program. Old one was E89x-08-09-530 New ILEVEL E89X-10-12-503, I have no idea what all this means but car runs smooth. HERE IS THE KICKER in order for BMW to allow all of this to be replaced under warranty they had to get permission from BMW headquarters. They ran a full check on the computer in the car THEY FOUND NOTHING AS IF THE ACCESSPORT WAS NEVER THERE TO BEGIN WITH. Don't get me wrong I did everything Rob told me to do but it is still nice to know that you can have a tune and not have to worry about the dealer giving you a hard time about the computer being flashed previously. Here are the invoices that I got back. I believe that I got the newest fuel pump out, But I have no idea on the reprograming aspect of encoding the DME. Great news for the n54 flash situation and Cobb. The rumor mill was starting to suggest you couldn't even think about the AP without being detected.

OP - Did you ever have any driveability problems, long cranks, or check engine
light come on BEFORE you installed the AP? I am not implying that the AP caused your failure, but it may have hastened the demise of an othwerwise failing pump? The straw that broke the camel's back so to speak? |

The codes, as Derek saw, will be in the ECU silently until a major fault happens. Installing or checking the codes with the AP will show/uncover the issue early. Jeff Perrin's pump died after several pulls. My car is still going strong after a 1000+ pulls over 8 months or so. Cheers, Rob |

Ok, I got the service engine light too, right after installing the AP.
But it went away. The first time I started the car before driving it. Now, tomorrow I'm going to scan the ECU with the cobb and see what codes I have. |

Not to discredit Cobb but fuel system parts on the bmw are quite easy to get replaced now. One of my close friends is a tech so i hang out at the dealership a lot and it only takes an email with stated fault codes to get fuel system parts now, and depending on the code they dont even need permission from BMW headquarters. Dealers even have new fuel pumps and injectors in stock because they are expecting to replace quite a few.

I did not know that by reprograming the DME that I would have to start all over again. I should have tried to reinstall The AccessPort when I got home then I could have sent you the file earlier, but I had a party I had to attend tonight. Thanks again for all of your help. Derek |

PUMA does not get involved with the replacement of pumps, injectors or the reprogramming anymore. In the past that was the case. Now the tech just follows the bulletin. No authorization needed from BMW at all. |
