Hey guys I want to upgrade my audio, but don't know much about car audio.

Thanks!

yea the logic7 that came with my 08 coupe.
i love to bang my music on the freeway so i'd like to add a sub or two and rpobably would need to upgrade the rest of the speakers as well. just wanted to do some hw to see whats available nowadays.

couple of years ago on my old a4 i had a 12w7 in ho box w/ cdt comps in the front w/ jl slash amps to go with and was content with that. something similar or maybe a few steps up but to today's standards would be nice..

Most car audio forums are filled with mouth breathers, honestly. I would suggest Mobile Sound Science ( mobilesoundscience.com ) if you really want to learn. But if you want to learn about these cars, this forum is better than any other as far as accurate info on our cars goes.

BMW audio is a little different

Basic audio principles are the same(home or car)
(The basics use to be matching speakers amps and head units)
(That was when the only connection they had with the rest of the car
was the power connection )
Because of computerization its getting harder to modify
car audio on a basic level in a lot of modern cars
Because the Head Unit is integrated with things like the trip computer
bluetooth phones navigation etc..and even the engine electronics

There are other audio boards but I don't know if you can learn basics
there if you read things like stereophile magazine or the absoulute sound
you can get an idea of the state of modern stereo at the high end.

So if you are intending on modifying your BMW you are at the right place.

ok i will just post here..
i'm a basshead so i would like to add something in the trunk that hits as similarly hard as the 12w7.
I would then also like to add more power to the fronts and underseat or replace them if they can't keep up.
Keeping the oem interface would be nice.
what would be required to achieve this?
are there complications since the idrive and integration is making things more complicated?
