n54.. i think, answered in the forced induction section, 2 clicks... its even a sticky thread title, so literally i could have clicked over and back in less time then it took me to write this wonderfull super run on sentance

Actually, thats still alittle off. For 2007 the number system has changed and the N54 in the 335i is actually an N54B3001. The last 2 digits were added at the same time the 335 was introduced.

I was waiting for someone to call me out on that.

I knew there was probably more to the code but could not find any references to it. I thought they used letters (S, T, U, etc) though? I think the N52 does, at least.
