if its a 6MT make sure you have the CDV delete and you know the proper way to drive.
If you warm up the vehicle to operating temp it will have no effect on doing damage..so in short yes the trans can handle the extra power. |

Ya I hope thats true, maybe bmw told zf to say that to prevent people from tuning their cars.

Oh ok, well have any of you had any transmission problem with nothing but a tune because I saw this video and he apparently only had a tune...
I know I'm probably getting a bit too worried but I really wouldnt want to spend 8k for a new transmission. But when I think of it Dinan keeps the stock tranny and they run 430ft lbs and they warranty it so it must be very strong, So i dont know why they rated it at 332ft lbs when most 335i's make that much in stock form at the crank.... |

Hi I just got this car but before I did I spent a good year and a half reading things on the forum and Ive seen u post on alot of threads(I remember ur beautifull e93) So since I know that youve been around a long time, let me ask you have you ever had any problems with your transmission? and are you auto or manual?

E90 ZF auto is indeed far advanced from auto from E46 platform. to me, it makes the car as quick as manual (most other auto tranny car cannot do this) or in a way, quicker.

Everything is engineered with some "headroom" so a fractional increase in torque shouldn't be a problem.
However, it means you might run into a transmission problem in 100k miles instead of 130k miles, or something to that effect. Really no way to predict.

Good Lord what a mess. How obtuse could that driver be? The transmission was slipping badly through the upshifts yet he stayed in it through fourth.

so far so good at 45K . pushing quite a lot of torque on upped turbos. Replaced oil and oil pan recently and there was a lot of metal shavings on the 2 magnets and the oil was pretty messed up. Thank god for the locking of the converter.
So far nobody has broken the transmission because of the added power so seems this ZF are very sturdy.

Seeing as how so many people listen to the dealerships, and under maintain their transmissions, i.e, never change the fluid, if you use a tune, you would probably benefit from increased service intervals, i.e, drain and fill fluid every 15,000 miles, instead of every 30,000 miles.

I remember reading somewhere on this board the 6MT in the current 335 was from the older e39 m5 (400hp). I'm not sure if this is true or not. I can't find the thread I read that in.
I think the Trans is fine, like many said already, there are many 335's that are tuned and don't have a issue. There are also many that are being raced with tunes that have no issues so far and don't have upgraded trans to my knowledge.
