Which Brand of Gasoline?

Hey guys, any opinions on that? H ad a fuel pump replaced at 33 k. I bought the 335 at 27 k. I only use Shell V Power and the service adviser at BMW told me that's the best fuel, that's why it lasted that long. Car runs great now.

As a gas station owner, shell is the best. I've had chevron and mobile as well, but shell gasoline is the cleanest and best octane. At least here in SFL.

Shell also has the most strict regulations, and the filters are maintenance more regularly and the credit and debit systems are more encrypted.

x2 on the Shell fuel. I wish we can get octane better than 91, at the pump, here in California.

Definitely agree with the above posts. Stick with Shell.

Squirrel brings up a good point. I'd like to hear from other Procede guys and see if different brands of gas make a difference with their autotune settings?

I use only Shell Vpower 91 octane. It is a "top tier" gas which is the only type you should use. This standard for gas was developed by BMW, General Motors, Honda, and Toyota.

Can't go wrong with any of these, but I prefer Shell. But as long as you stick with those brands, you won't have to worry about using injector cleaner and etc.

Nope, but it doesn't really matter so much when you understand that many gas stations buy the same exact gasoline. In this case, it's more about the closest refiner, supplier and distribution system. The Shell two blocks away might likely be buying the same gas from a distributor who also sells gas to the Mobil station across the street. Unfortunately, they're not responsible for the ethanol blending in the gas that they sell. You'd be surprised how many stations are selling fuel that exceeds the 10% maximum amount of ethanol in their advertised blends. Just wait, because they might soon be able to get away with 85/15%.

The difference is the additive package that the gas station/brand adds to their fuel. The additives include modifiers, preservatives and detergents that might have more to do with lesser-discussed side effects, such as lubricity that affects wear on injectors and pumps. Aside from price, the only known difference is with those additives, which is why most manufacturers endorse the top-tier brands.

I have no problem buying Exxon, Shell/Texaco, Chevron or QuickTrip gas. That's about all I can find in this area and fortunately they're all top-tier brands.

Strange....my car always runs better with Chevron whether E10 or Ethanol free over Shell E10 (both 93 octane). Used Shell for over a year. All I use now is ethanol free Chevron 93 Octane. Either is better than the rest IMHO.

Funny you mention this....I was wondering how equivalent octane fuel which was 100% ethanol free would perform in an autotune scenario vs E10. Any takers?

I use lukoil or Shell, my HPFP failed at 23k miles, and I now have 46k miles and no issue. I also don't let the fuel go below 1/4 of the tank. I don't know if it does anything but I just feel it puts less stress on the fuel pump if you don't run the car down to fumes...

Yeah I used Shell ONLY my first year I had my car and my pump went out at around 12.5k miles. Obviously not saying that was the problem but never had any issues with Chevron on my second pump. I had it replaced last month by the dealer due to the recall. They replaced without even testing my second one which I believe the Tech Bulletin called for. I got the newest pump part number...they had to special order it. They also replaced #4 and 5 injectors as part of that recall as well.
