Woo Hoo! Production Started on my new 328i xDrive!

Ordered the car from my dealer 1/21/2011. Received a production number the same day. Just checked the BMWUSA.com website and production was started today!

Called the (800) number and found out that the anticipated production completion date is February 8.

Details:
6-Speed Manual
Alpine White
Black Dakota Leather
ZPP
ZSP
ZVP

Congrats! Seems to me there is a trend with stick drivers and members on these forums? Nice to see I'm not the only one who doesn't want to drive like a mindless idiot...

I'm in central Indiana, so the car should come in via one of the East Coast ports.

Looks like the car might be put on the Tamerlane, leaving Bremerhaven on February 15 and arriving in Baltimore on March 1.

Man my dealer must have given me a horrid production slot. It's been two weeks (1/28) and still no confirmed production date.

What color are they painting it, Benzboy? :-)

My dealer used an allotted slot wish they didn't honestly. Was hoping for a may production to have the 6NR option.

I didn't realize until your post that they weren't building 6NR until March. I was under the impression March was when we'd start seeing cars with the option would start to arrive on dealer lots.

Did you get the smartphone integration? 6NF? There is buzz on the forums that with 6NF there will be a software upgrade available.

No I couldn't get the smartphone integration it conflicted with the value package which included the iPod/USB port the dealer said u need either or for BMW apps

Didn't read that in the BMW Apps bulletin but it makes sense. Integration and USB would use the phones the same way, right? They both connect to the actual phone the same way.

Well, the Tamerlane just left port. I'm waiting on an e-mail from my CA to tell me the VIN of my car, so that I can check to see if it's on this vessel. If it is, it should be in Baltimore on March 1.

My car just went to step 2 (production finished) on BMWUSA.com and I called the phone number and it said it is awaiting transport, does that mean its waiting to get on a ship?

Update: Well, my car didn't make it onto the Tamerlane on Tuesday, but I confirmed on the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking website this morning that the car was loaded onto the Turandot and left port yesterday, to arrive in Baltimore on March 3.

Incidentally, the 800 number still says it's still at port awaiting a shipping vessel...
