Had a bit of fun yesterday givin it some beans & there is a yellow light that flashes on & off. Talkin about full throttle @3 figure speeds here on my private runway)

I'm sure it's to do with traction control but surely not @ a ton. Snow & ice yes but not on a perfect road surface with the sun out & 9C.

What's actually happening ?? has it applied the brakes, cut the power as I can't tell.

Never turned the Traction control off but if it was off would the car have lost control ??

Not a problem for me leaving it on as I just want to know what's going on in the background.

Must be DSC intervention, not traction control. The car doesn't have enough power for traction control to intervene at those speeds.

Were you going around a curve? Onto a taxiway perhaps?

What size wheels? Standard or M-sport suspension?

I'm thinking slight undulations on your runway, (where a heavy jet has touched down perhaps ; ) may have caused some bounce which lifted the driving wheels enough for them to spin. Stiff suspension and low profile tyres would tend to accentuate this.

17" wheels on winter tyres ( 149mph rated) car was & felt "planted"

When I have had it de-activated completely I've spun the rears at over 115mph so it's entirely possible with it activated to cut in if the wheels were trying to break traction for whatever reason!

A 335d at full chat on winters could no doubt trigger it it just due to road surface change etc

IMHO Winters aren't meant to be doing 100+ really... Whatever they are rated to. The tread pattern doesn't suit performance driving.

It's very unlikely that if you did turn the traction control off that the car would lose control...

Control is something the driver is meant to be in charge of....

the tyres are rated @149 so 11* is nothing to them

the "take off" was over & done with in at least 15 seconds so there was no sustained high speeds & like most people on here I pick my moments. 6 seconds of full acceleration from 50/60 is all we are really talking about so I'm in as much control as anyone could be.

In this case the road was wide, empty, no turnings perfect surface & 9 degrees C.

Still no clearer as to why the light would flash on & off.

It flashes when its operating - so not on when its on and off when its off.

Causes? Water, oil, change in surface, bump or ripple in tarmac, manhole cover, white line/painted surface, animal remains? All could trigger the DSC or even traction control to kick in esp if only 1 wheel comes in to contact with whatever it was.

Get a quaife diff and the light will bother you a lot less...

Actually people, it flashes AFTER its operated.
Do some tests - a wet motorway bridge expansion joint and a heavy right foot is an easy one to measure.

The light will flicker after the event, by a second or so.

The Quaife indeed does makes a huge difference, but you just drive harder.
I had the DTC switched on and still got it lighting up and drifting off line at 70+ easily.

One wheel losing grip on an open diff is catastrophic, all power goes right to the spinning wheel and so a very early DSC intervention.
That also closes the throttle plate slightly on the petrol - feels like hitting the rev limiter...

Aye, I get this on the Clio at well over the NSL.

Its just a bitch so we all have to learn to modulate the power
