Headrest DVDs >> Seatbelt error message
2011 335d with all the goodies.
Hello E90 friends. Just installed a non-OEM headrest with a build in DVD player and disconnected the original headrest (which has an active pyrotechnic thing in there to 'shoot' it forward in case of a crash). Obviously I'm getting an error code on the iDrive and dashboard cluster. The dealer refuses to reset/disable the error code. Anybody have any good ideas how to 'fool' the system to think it's still there ? Looking forward to your comments and suggestions as I could not find anything in the existing posts. THANKS ! |

Only thing I can think of is you might be able to 'code' out the active headrest.
Dealer can not do individual coding, nor will they reset the error because it pertains to a Safety Feature that you personally disabled. If they get rid of the error, then they are essentially aiding in you disabling this feature - you get in an accident, headrest does not do the job as designed, you get neck injury, they get sued, and so on. They are simply covering their butt. Visit the coding forum and search/inquire there...

Headrest DVD >> seatbelt error
Hello, current status.
I've found a shop with a decent uptodate Autologic software system. They have been in contact with Autologic in England and they believe that this software feature will be 'accessible' in August/September. Once the 'software setting' is accessible they will be able to turn off the seatbelt warning. For now I'm living with the error message as the benefits of the DVD player (with my 2 year old) far outweighs the negative of the error message |
