another Halogen to xenon thread

car: 2007 328i with halogens
question: if i get a pair of xenon headlights from a 3 series made between 2006-2008(preLCI), is it going to be plug and play? or do i need to go to the dealer and have them program some more nonsense?

is there any extra work needed to be done so i don't get errors or burn my car if i get stock xenon headlights from preLCI models?

I'm planning on going this route and as I understand it, it is not a direct plug and play. You might want to check the "coding" thread, but I believe you can install OEM xenons on a halogen car with coding. I recall reading on there somewhere that you will lose high beams, though. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong or if there is additional info on this conversion.

Oh not another one please!

If you're in NorCal, and you buy the OEM headlamp housings and D1S bulbs and ballasts, hit me up, I'd like to code it in and I'd do it FOC for you.

Here's a scenario that maybe you know answer? Pre-lci halogen to xenon conversion using pre-lci OEM housing, OEM ballast and d1s, and OEM adaptive module. You can code the xenons to work (I'm assuming no errors) as noted above. However, can you code the adaptive part to work (not the headlight levelers, as I wouldn't have those attached to suspension)? I believe in the "coding" thread, there are values in the spreadsheet for ALC (I assume, though not sure, that means automatic level control, or something like that?) that you could set as not active. However, can you code the adaptvie part (headlights move in direction of turn) if you have the OEM adaptive modules on the healdight? Anyone know the answer?

I have an actual pair of BMW OEM Xenon headlight(NOT the bixenon) complete with ballast and D1s from a 2006 car. I just don't want to install it and mess something up. And i don't live in cali no more. Am in the northwest.

I thought all US e90 xenons were bi-xenon. Is that not correct?

are all Xenon headlights adaptive?(if not, how would i know if it's adaptive or not?)

my car right now is running on halogens, so it's not adaptive. If my regular xenon headlights are not adaptive, that means i don't need to bring it in for adaptive module programming?

looking at the headlights internals, is it possible to tell if it's Adaptive or not?

::::EDIT::::
orangedawg, from what i read somehwere
06-08 e90 comes standard with halogen, REGULAR Xenons are optional. Bi xenon for those years only work with retrofit(not standard). b-xenons are only for 09+ models
