Exclamation Keeping BBS CH 19"s on for trade in? wtf??

First off, this is my first trade in experience, so I am a cherry at it. I have my 335i coupe on the way, and am trading in my 330xi. However my SA/CA told me conflicting things about my wheels. The strange thing was that at first she told me I would have to put the origional RFT's back on, which I have in storage. I was like ok, no problem at all. Now I get to put them on the 335, I thought. But then she came back after speaking with the guy who appraised my car and told me I had to keep the CH's on as it adds to the "value" of the vehicle. I've never heard of this. Everyone I've talked to says no aftermarket equipment adds significant value to the car. Heh, one of my bud's thoughts is there is someone in the service department that just wants them. With the shady people in this town, I dont doubt it at all. Thought I would run it by you guys.

Anyone's views on this would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Lightly modded cars namely tasteful or usually just OEM add ons will add value to the car based on an enthusiast coming in a purchasing the car based on looks.

They actually mike get more attention on the car with a beautiful set of wheels on it.

Keep the CH's. They will be worth much more than the dealer will give you...

Plus you will have a fantastic mod for your new car...

Yup, that appraiser is eyeballing them for a swap out once he gets your car.

The majority of US dealers are "FULL CIRCLE" dealers

This means that instead of wholesaling your BMW trade in or returning a leased car to BMW of America, they keep it and recondition it in house and put them back on their lot. SO if your car has some type of mod that actually does not (in your local dealers opinion, not BMWs) negatively affect the desireability or value of the car, they may chose to allow you to turn it back to them in a non stock form. In your case the BBS wheels are acceptable to the local dealer and probably enhance the value. I would put the stock wheels and tires back on and sell the BBSs privately.

They are wholesaling it because its not origional paint. They told me they can't sell it on the lot. Some fucker keyed the shit out of it a while back.

19" wheel can add more value to your trade in car, but not as much as it worth. Keep your ch for your 335!!!

I had BBS Competition wheels on my M3 and my dealership said it was worth more with the stock 18" wheels. Similarly I put the stock runflats on my 550 and kept my 166 M5 wheels. Keep your wheels!

will this lower the value of the car much for trade in now that I'm going to elect to keep them? Cuz the RFT set I have is worth the same $$$ about the same as the deal I got for my CH's

Put your stock wheels back on and insist you get the same trade-in value for your car. They're just trying to get a free set of aftermarket wheels off you. I've worked on that side of the deal before and its things like this that made me branch off on my own and do private buying/ leasing services.

They're just telling you that to try to have the strong hold on you. Tell them the car comes back stock for the same trade value or you're going to another dealership. They'll fold. If they don't, contact me and I'll get you a car
