Top speed PROcede with speed limiter off -- place your bets

OK ladies & gents, place your bets. How fast will a PROcede equipped 335 go? The ability to remove the speed limiter will allow a genuine test of the 335's top speed. I think that it will be too fast for safety without appropriate areo mods. Someone is bound to try it, and hopefully live to tell the tale, in the next few weeks or so.

i don't see why u couldn't get up to 180 if you have the room and the right conditions. I hope this isn't asking anyone to attempt this on a local freeway lol.

+1. The danger goes up exponentially. In my experience a 335 is fine at the speedo indicated 150 (probably 144 in real speed), on the autobahns with low traffic flow and in the company of other cars (more eyes, ears, road knowledge and experience). I think 160 (actual) might be OK if you really know what you are doing and conditions are ideal. Beyond that I think you need expert aero mods and experience.

180+ ? That is serious territory. I doubt it without some serious additional engine, aero, & suspension mods.

180+? I can't believe that's leading the poll. What ever happened to "drag limited"?

My guess was 168.

My 91 octane dyno graph is below. No way it will hit 180 given the significant TQ decline after 5,500 RPM. I would predict 165-170 with 91 octane, maybe 170-175 with 93 octane.

Yeah, let's make it with 93 octane. I'm still sticking with 172. Damn fast.

according to this site http://www.apexgarage.com/tech/horsepower_calc.shtml

it should be able to go 180+ pretty easy

itll run out of gearing pretty soon after that though

and before you ask its ~22

the car actually seemed to tighten up so it wouldve taken a strong manever to loose it..
owning 3 E90's i have to say this E90 is ON A RAIL!!! i dunno whats different but fuck this car takes turns so much better than the others!!

Torque gets you moving - horsepower keeps you moving - the torque dropping is not as big of a deal as if it was say the HP dropping like that.

What's the max speed it 5th gear? It's the 1:1 gear, anything in 6th gear is going to be decreased.

I seriously doubt there is anyway you'll hit 180 in 6th gear without at least 400hp. In fact I would bet money on it. The car will be too drag limited and the gearing won't really suport a 330-350 hp car to make that speed.

A unlimited M3 CS E46 can do 280/285kmh topspeed(343BHP), so I voted 172MPH for the Proceded 335i but I guess it's faster.

My normal 335i stops at 260kmh on the speedometer limited(250kmh real) . The normal 335i has enough grunt to go on to 275kmh on the speedometer if there wasn't any restriction. 100% for sure.

180 mp/h for sure!

I took a look on the gear-diagram from sport auto-magazin, there you can see, that a theoretic-speed of 305km/h(about 190mp/h) you would reach in the 6 gear at 7000 U/min.(tested with 17 inch wheels)

Of course we all can see that at about 6700 U/min the power is going down very much.

But at a 93 octane vishnu 335i we are speaking about 400 engine-Hp maximum, so when a carrera 996 goes honest 280km/h with 300 hp and the facelift with 320 hp solves 285 km/h, why shouldn´t a 335i solve 290km/h(180mp/h)with a engine horsepower of about 350!

And one word to the aerodynamic, we know also that a E92 325i needs only 218 engine-hp to solve the speed of 247 km/h (about 153 mp/h.)

And it´s not said, that all of my examples reach exactly maximum speed with power-maximum!

Greetings Robert

One more example!

M5 E39 with official 400 engine-hp solves 296 km/h without limiter!

Thatīs the official speed in the papers.

Some of the M5 guys solved honest 300 km/h on GPS.

But its confirmed, that almost all M5 are in reality only in the 380 to 390 engine-Hp area!

Greetings Robert

I would assume that stock 335i would easily hit 170 (without the limiter), don't know much about the upgrades but i voted 180+, it really could be that fast in the end

p.s.
Of course, in EU we use 100 octane fuel.

this got me looking closer at the gearing... the auto has a higher top speed in 5-6.... 1-4 it has a lower speed per gear but then all of a sudden 5 and 6 have a higher top speed than the manual...

6th gear for the manual is .87, thats not exactly ground breaking overdrive there

The car easily reaches the top speed of 250/260Km/h (this should be 150mph) with the limiter on.

I bet that the stock car could still go at least 280-290km/h without limiter so after the procede instalation this could be around 310km/h.

(anyone knows to convert in mph ??)
