Uh....feel like an idiot.....So I dropped the bracket trying to mount that first to the car, should have mounted that to the occ first.......lol

It must have stuck somewhere because I tried to see if I can hear it moving by hitting the belly pan and I heard nothing......I was gonna jack up the car, take off the belly pan, but.....

What should I do in the meantime? I already PM'd Alan @ ********** for another bracket......hahha.

....in the meantime id start looking for the bracket that you dropped? loose parts in an engine compartment is not really a good thing...

yeah, i was concerned about a piece of zip tie that fell in the compartment somewhere... I hate a dirty engine bay! I could never find it again and smelled burnt plastic after i pulled my car into the garage... Just nothing i could do.

I'm just gonna take it to my shop and have them lift the car so we can strip the underbelly pan......I really think it's just caught between some hoses.....I didn't hear it drop to the bellypan......lol

Thank you again for your order and support on the BSH OCC. Adding an oil catch can is one of the simplest ways to increase the performance and longevity of your twin turbo engine. I'm glad that everything got situated and I know that you've probably installed it by now!

The only flaw with this CC is that bracket and the 115 degree angle it bends making it almost impossible to get the nut on/off. Fortunately, I haven't had to drain my can yet...but I can imagine a magnet next to the nut while removing/installing it next time will be in order.

Otherwise, quality stuff...I just have a tiny bit of oil touching my dipstick after several months. Guess I don't get much blow-by...or the can isn't working..haha...

Yes, I agree.....When I first saw that, I was like, 'okay, I've gotta find a midget or a 7 yr old to get that screw on', lol.

So what I did the second time around is I laid a few plastic bags around the empty cavities to catch the bracket or screw in case if I drop them. LOL, kinda ghetto but it works.

Ordered one from **********s today.

Checked first with my SA on any BMW or Dinan warranty issues. He stated he believed the OCC was not necessary, especially for a street drive car, but that it would have no impact on warranties.

Mine came with no instructions as well. Seemed to me like that would be a basic component of the purchase. But no mind, Former_Boosted_IS posted a DIY that is probably better then they could have put together anyway.

In turbo applications, an OCC traps blow-by of motor oil and fuel vapors out of the intercooler and intake tract. The OCC usually is plumbed in where the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve would go. When I upgraded my intercooler, I noticed that the core had oil/gunk build up. It in itself does not increase engine performance in any way. What it does do is it helps prevent possible blow-by from the cranksase that could coat the intercooler, turbos, charge pipe, etc with oil residue. That residue can, over time, inhibits airflow through the intake. You will not gain any power by adding a catch can, but you will possibly prevent power loss further down the road.
