Hi guys I need help getting off my oil filter cap I tried using two strap wrenches and I'm still having problems. Anyone know if I can buy the cap wrench locally in the Philadelphia area. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Get oil cap pliers.

The pliers are really long and have jagged teeth at the end. Just be careful not to tear up the plastic. Get a good grip and turn.

Dont waste your time on those cap wrenches.. unless you buy the specific BMW one (waste) you will be throwing your money away!

just use the strap wrench and adjust it so its tight on the cap, but make sure you only have it on the plastic cap not the whole housing, i used a snap on strap wrench

You should try cleaning both surfaces with some rubbing alcohol to make sure you have good contact.

The first time I changed my oil the cap was really stubborn for me aswell. I eventually got it off with the biggest strap wrench I had though.

Update I just ordered the cap wrench online from Bavauto $20.00 with shipping. I tried going to the dealership by me they said they don't have it for sale. I have a feeling my the cap may have been over torqued durring my last oil change. Do you guys every buy an extra cap just incase its cracked? How durable is it since its just made out of plastic instead of metal.
