Procede V5? Cobb? JB4?....come see what I purchased...
I've been on this forum reading and laughing from time to time. I just bought my 2010 e92 coupe last year. She's at about 26,000 miles, so I thought it's time to do something before its getting old. I placed an order with Cobb yesterday and I'm hoping I made the right choice. The JB4 was on my list if Cobb was not available. I hate to try new things as they are released simply cause there's always going to be issues with software. But all Cobb customers seem to love what they got into so i'll give it a shot. I think I might get a dci however everything is stock. So for the Cobb users, I just want to ask if there are any cons to this tune or if any has purchased Cobb and didnt like it for some reason, I would like to hear.
I have a buddy that always tells me his Is350 is a better bang for the buck and he always tells me to come out to the tracks and race. He says he will beat because he's a better driver (I'm thinking how can he be better driver when he's got an auto and he just steps on the pedal). So my response one day was, I pulled out a $500 and I told him put yours out and I'll see if I could beat you. So of course this convo has not been brought up again. I saw that Cobb dyno'd the 335i at 240hp and stg 1 is at 303hp, would this be the same on all 335i cars or it varies? Thx in advance. |

There is NO COBB support for N55 which is the 335i MY2011 onwards.

You guys are going to confuse him, He is asking a simple question.
Your best bet is to call each manufacture and have them tell you about there product, do independent research and make your decision from there. There is a huge "fanboy" on each forum that you go too, so your best bet would be to do your own research, search A Lot, Call the manufactures and then TRY them and decide for yourself. |

As stated 2010 = n54
I love my ap, and I had a v5 before which was also great. I chose to move on to the Cobb ap because it's an easier install/uninstall especially if I need tk remove away from home. And also because soon I can dyno tune my car to make sure that it is running as optimally as possible, and all parameters are ideal. Also, skip the dci. Save your money for a fmic. |

You will take your buddies IS350 even if you weren't tuned. Tuned you would destroy him.
Also Cobbs dyno is wheel HP. I've seen cars make anywhere between 310-330whp on the mustang dyno on the cobb tune only.

Thats what I thought, he saying cobb dynoed a base of 240 at the wheels?? Don't you think that is a bit low for a stock 335?

So you chose Cobb, and JB4 as your backup when the Procede has been out longer than both of those combined? That doesn't make a lot of sense if your justification is not buying something new.... |

+ 1. COBB still seems to be working out some issues too. Every COBB review I read says the OP loves the tune but that there were install difficulties / other issues

Seems as if most issues with installation were ether due to temporary ROM incompatibility or users with 6at. |

only thing he should take from that "dyno session" is the fact that the Cobb made @ 60whp. dynos are mostly for tuning purposes. if you dyno your car at one place, be sure to compare dynos/numbers to other cars that have also been on that dyno. you don't wanna compare your dyno numbers to my numbers that were done in Houston or San Francisco or Dallas or Chicago. |

in my limited time on this forum, i have realized that the JB4/Cobb/V5 all produce similar numbers and similar performance.
it's what happening internally that will determine which one is the best. i chose JB4 due to it's price and performance, as have thousands of other people, BUT, if certain variables such as ignition and timing control suite your fancy, you made the right choice with Cobb. i would have been running Cobb as well, but they didn't have the 07 software yet - i couldn't and didn't want to wait so i went with JB4. very happy with it currently, but still trying to get iformation in another thread. |
