First time clay/car waxer!

hey everyone. Well since i purchase my car and took delievery 2nd week of Feb i've only washed my car with car wash products and make it look GOOD. Well i know one should do a complete cleaning 2 times a year. 1 in the fall and 1 in the spring and regular washes in between. Anyway all this talk about Zaino i went ahead and took a 1 hour drive to Howell NJ and purchase leather cleaner and conditioner from Zaino and Z-7 car wash. So i normally use Maguiar's QD for my radio system and dash in my car and i love how it makes it look and smell. Anyway i'm totally happy with the Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner. Here's my question.

I've checked the forcast and this saturday it's supposed to be around 49F and no rain or snow for at least 10 forcast. So i was wondering, should i just wash my car regular with my zainoZ7 and wait for a warmer day more near spring to summer to do the complete car wash, OR should i do the whole wash/claybar/polish/wax thing now?

The thing is i don't want to drive another hour Howell to buy more products. I'll be fine with getting clay bar from Maguiar's but the rest polish and wax i will have to buy it. So i will order mail order. I can't do it now because it will not arrive in time (i'm in NJ and only authorized seller with shipping in PA).

I really wanted to ask is. Whenever a member from NJ plans on doing their whole complete car wash can u hit me up to get together that day and maybe you can show me the ropes on doing the whole clay/polish/wax thing to the car. I don't want to do anything wrong, and i've read the instructions on the forum but i truely learn from watching and hands on.

nothing is written in stones.

You may have to polish your car 4 or 5 times a year. it all depends on where you live.

On my wife's car I put on a layer of wax every time I wash it. Even after 18 months the car was is excellent shape with very little swirling. It barely needed claying.

I did polish it however since I like doing it.

PS: order your stuff and do it when you are ready. If you can't find anyone here, try autopia.

The order I plan on doing is this. Please correct anything that needs to be corrected.

1-Water with dish detergent
2-Clay Bar
3-Zaino Z7 car wash
4-Zaino AIO
5-Zaino CS

I don't understand with all this polish, wax, sealant, gloss, etc... so is this good? I would like to use all zaino product.

One important thing to remember is your applicators/drying towels. You can buff and this and that till your blue. Use a 100% american white cotton towel with borders removed to wash with, some turkish, pakistanian etc..are not actually 100%.. I prefer blowing the water off with high power leaf blower. The less you rub = less swirls, and it gets most of the water out of cracks and gaps. Use clean (pref) new micro's for wax if not using orbitol machine. Up and down on the sides front to back on hood roof and trunk. Micro for removing. By now you should have a sore arm and a decent sweat.

I'm in Jersey too, and I was hoping to get some Zaino products. Did you have to pre-order the Zaino items you got before you picked them up? Do you have the address of the place in Howell, NJ? Thanks!

Hey man, the first time i got it was when i took a drive down to Howell NJ. It was far and traffic but my car was brand new and i just could stop driving it. Here is the address to them.

Shore Motorsports
6770 Rt 9 South
Howell, NJ 07731
732-364-7997

You have to go down and buy, they don't place orders or ship.

If you want them shipped to you
Carl Voellm
Huntingdon Valley, PA
215-938-0991
Email: carl@hcvind.com

I actually just found out from my girl that carl voellm accepts paypal and next day delivery sending. So that's good!... you place your order thru his website, which i don't know it untill my girl gets home.

I'll ask her if she know's the website you can order from.

Thanks for the info! Too bad I bought Meguiars and Mothers products already, but I'll definitely head down to Howell after I use up this stuff. Make sure you post some pics of the car after you Zaino it!

AIO first because it will remove any wax/sealant you already have.

I'm not quite sure about this, but I thought you're not allowed to do anything to freshly painted cars or panels except spray water on them. Waxing is a definite no if I remember correctly. Get it verified by the body shop though, there's supposed to be a 30-60 day "Can't do anything to it" policy...

Meh, maybe I'm completely wrong, someone else chime in here.

Even though Zaino recommends Dawn, it's really overkill. If you are going to clay your car and AIO your car, it should remove all existing wax/sealants. I would rather use a mild car wash soap.
