It all depends on traction/tires for good 0-60 times. However here is my test results with the JB+ installed.
Testing JB+ on 08 335I Sedan. Did some baseline tests on the new 335I sedan. As the car is still pretty new (148 miles), it is still fairly tight, and the numbers are not that great, but still in the ball-park. In my past experience the cars seem to perform quite a bit better once they have about 7000 miles on them, with traps a good 1-1.5mph better than when they are brand new. The car is totally stock, 91 octane, with no optimization done at all for good ¼ mile Ets. Stock RFTs set at 36psi. The totally stock runs: Near sea level, 52F. 91 Octane Shell. 01/01/08 Run#1 13.5 @ 103.1mph (2.0 sec 60’ time) Run #2 13.5 @ 103.6 mph. (2.0 sec 60’ time.) 0-60mph: 4.9 seconds, 0-100mph: 12.5 seconds Run#3 13.5 @ 103.6mph (2.0 sec 60’ time) Identical Times! 0-60 mph: 4.9 seconds 0-100 mph: 12.5 seconds. AFTER INSTALLING JB+. 50F, 91 Octane Shell. Same day, same test section. Run#1 13.2 @ 108.1 mph (2.1 sec 60’ time). More wheelspin! 0-60mph 4.7 seconds, 0-100mph: 11.4 seconds. Run#2 13.1 @ 108.1 mph (2.0 sec 60’ time). 0-60 mph: 4.6 seconds, 0-100 mph: 11.2 seconds. (over a second quicker than stock) Run#3 13.1 @ 108.0 mph (2.0 sec 60’ time) 0-60 mph: 4.6 seconds, 0-100 mph: 11.2 seconds. So with better traction, (lower tire pressure or after market tires), and more adaptation, this would be capable of hitting the 12’s without a doubt. And once the car has a few more miles on it, that alone might do it. Pretty impressive for a non-intrusive plug-in solution. And with a solid 4.5mph gain, that would equate to about a 40-45hp gain. And this is just a preliminary Beta unit with more user adjustable features planned in the future. Terry says this particular unit is on the lowest 91 octane setting. FYI: I didn’t notice a drastic improvement at first. But later on when I drove around in the day, the car seemed to get faster and faster. I am a firm believer you can’t just get instant adaptation when changing tunes on this car. It’s amazing how cheap it is to get this much horsepower. 40+ hp for $300-$400? I don’t know what Terry’s final pricing will be, but this is incredibly cheap compared to how much it would cost to get this instant much HP gain on previous vehicles that I have modded. Perhaps with 93 octane or better, the increases would be even more. After Installing Nitto NT555R Drag Radials: 51F 91 Octane Shell. 01/03/09 Run#1 12.9 @ 108.2 mph (2.0 sec 60’ time) 0-60 mph: 4.4 seconds, 0-100 mph: 11.0 seconds. Run#2 12.9 @ 108.2 mph (1.9 sec 60’ time) 0-60 mph: 4.4 seconds, 0-100 mph: 11.1 seconds. Run#3 12.8 @ 109.5 mph (1.9 sec 60’ time) 0-60 mph: 4.3 seconds, 0-100 mph: 10.7 seconds. Run#4 12.8 @ 108.8 mph (1.9 sec 60’ time) 0-60 mph: 4.3 seconds, 0-100 mph: 10.8 seconds. Added 1 gallon of 100 octane to 3 gallons of 91 octane. ~93-95 octane. Run#1 12.9 @ 110.1 mph (2.0 sec 60’ time) 0-60 mph: 4.4 seconds, 0-100 mph: 10.8 seconds. (Excessive Wheel Spin) Run#2 12.7 @ 110.6 mph (1.9 sec 60’ time) 0-60 mph: 4.3 seconds, 0-100 mph: 10.4 seconds. Run#3 12.7 @ 110.6 mph (1.9 sec 60’ time) 0-60mph: 4.2 seconds, 0-100 mph: 10.5 seconds. Edit: 08/16/09 (at 2800 miles) 60F, Shell 91 Octane, Besides JB+, Bone Stock including stock 18” Run Flats Run#1 13.0 @ 109.6mph (2.0 sec 60’ time) 0-60mph: 4.5 seconds, 0-100 mph: 10.8 seconds Run#2 12.9 @ 109.6 mph (2.0 sec 60’ time) 0-60mph: 4.5 seconds, 0-100 mph: 10.8 seconds Run#3 13.1 @ 109.7 mph (2.1 sec 60’ time) bad launch 0-60mph: 4.6 seconds, 0-100 mph: 11.0 seconds

Impressive numbers hotrod! I remember you getting to 60mph in 3.9 in one of your youtube videos, thats insane! Let me ask you something do you think launching in 2ns gear(6at) is bad for the transmission because I remember you used to do that and then in another video you had transmission failures Anyways Im just curious if theres a link?
Thanks |

Reducing 0-60 by 0.4s is crazy! you need a lot more power and a LOOT more grip. |

Of course 0 - 100mph and 1/4 mile times are better indicators of power. That said, my guesstimates for 0-60mph (good traction, 93 octane, conservative launch, ± .2 secs):
Stock original progman: 4.9 Neutered wastegate rattle progman: 5.1 JB+ 50% (on later progman versions): 4.8 Procede V5/JB4 (conservative traction mods: LSD, nonrfts): 4.3 Procede V5/JB4 (traction mods, conservative engine mods: DPs, FMIC, intake, ...): 4.1 Procede V5/JB4 (full boat including meth): 3.8 Yes this is supercar territory. In a family sedan. And with appropriate suspension mods and weight reduction, the handling to go with it. If you are stingy with OEM options and got yours via ED, then your supercar w/ mods cost <50k.

I personally wouldnt recomend it over 50%, at that point you should get a tune(the jb+ isnt a tune it just tricks the car into giving more boost) because a tune such as procede or jb3/4 will remap the fuel the boost and a lot of other paraeters whereas the jb raises boost and relies on the ecu to make up for an increase in boost which is ok but not more than 50%

I LOVE all hotrods numbers. if you do a search, you can find differences in mods, weather, different cars (2 335s), etc. great info and fun to compare.
Any tickets when testing? you must have the best test road with no worries of police. |

i did a lot of research on that. and terry from burger motorsport and other people including Mike@n54tuning have confirmed to me that the jb+ is a low enough boost level that it is still a safe tune. "the jb+ is just as safe as the jb3" Terry from burger motorsports. he easily could have made more money buy telling me to buy a jb3 but he didnt.

It simply plugs into the tmap sensor and tricks the ecu to give you a bit more boost which is fine but I wouldnt put it more than 50% since at that boost you need a tune capabke od remapping fuel, having safety features implemented(timimg etc) I think the jb+ is good to plug in(takes 30 seconds) and get an extra 40hp but if you plan on running it more you should look into a tune(imo procede v5 is the best but thats my preference!) Also you have to do the bypass at 100% otherwise your car will run like shit! Btw I think bms will take back the jb and use that money towards a jb4( but I personally dont recomend the jb4, get another tune!) |
