BMW Performance Exhaust Tips Poll
I just want to know who kept the stock PE tips and who had them replaced. And why. I have mine coming in about a month and can't decide. Thanks.

I have it and left it alone. I had every intention of putting Cyba black chrome tips on it but have decided to leave it alone. I kinda like the simple, single wall tips and they seem to be around the right size to my eyes. I think some of the 4" tips are borderline too big.
Plus, when you figure $100 for the tips + the cost of someone to cut the old ones off and and weld the new ones on, it doesn't seem worth it. I really didn't want to hack up a new $1,500 exhaust either. |

I cant really vote because I put the stock OEM tips back on. I like the rolled look but couldnt find any tips in the 3.5" size, which is what I wanted, in the rolled edge look. So I just put the stock back on the car.

for anyone that ever upgraded tips:
did any of you think "maaan, the tips look great, but the stock mufflers are still visible from underneath and they just don't look good" ?? i'm thinking of leaving work and going to my preferred exhaust shop and getting tips installed todat when i leave work @ noon. only thing that has kept me from doing it was the above statement. so, if someone is driving behind me, they will see nice and shiny tips, but the mufflers still look weathered and "not as good" as the new shiny tips. comments !?!? |

You guys aren't making this easy for me. I'm also not a fan of the single wall. Looks kind of cheap to me.

I wouldnt...the flap isnt needed. I didnt put the flap part back on. The tube just goes to a barb on the muffler with the PE. Not really sure why you would need it. Since the PE doesnt have the ability to function with it, I didnt put it back on, seeing as how BMW engineers probably saw fit that it didnt need it.
