Question Shortest, most precise SSK?

I have the BMW performance ssk. While it is a wortwhile improvement over stock, it's not a great fit for me. I want shorter throws, more precise action, wouldn't mind a stiffer feel, less play, and a shorter height.

Cliffs

want

-short height
-short as possible throws
-little to no play
-firm action
-precise throws

which option, aa, rogue, uuc, is the BEST fit for me?

I did it wrong once, I want to do it right. Any pics of Shifter height would e great as well.

Thanks.

I have the UUC w/ out the DSSR. DSSR make's it much stiffer...but at the time I didn't feel that I needed it. I like my UUC a lot and the shifts are pretty short...I'd advise you to find some people in Houston, at a meet or something and try it out yourself.

how is the height compared to the stock shifter?

do you wish that you had gotten the dssr? i really hate excess play in the shifter, but dont want to get the dssr if its not necessary (plus it looks like a bastard to install).

also, did yours come with a new mounting bracket?

I like my B&M, but it does have slight side-to-side play while in gear. Not sure if that's because of the little selector rod or not. Coupled with an Msport shifter, it's probably 2 inches shorter than stock and the shifts are much more solid and crisp. Might not be the best, but I like it for the price.

Nothing will compare to the MGW shifter I had in my mustangs though. Shortest, most solid shifts I've ever felt, and for only $180. Pretty sad that my B&M shifter was $250, and this UUC shifter is $330, plus another $130 for the DSSR. BMW tax FTL.

Rogue is the best all around SSK.

Good luck actually get a UUC shifter shipped to you in any type of "normal" time frame.

I have the B&M as well...love it compared to stock. unfortunately, that's all I can compare it to. LIke dcorn mentioned, there is a little side to side while in gear, but it's very minimal.

The Rogue SSK has been improved whereas the UUC is the same design and parts from years ago. They are similar, but the Rogue unit is proven and YOU CAN GET IT SHIPPED TO YOU IN LESS THAN A WEEK.

There are people on this forum that have been waiting for a UUC unit (after ordering it) for months without a proper explanation.

I think the B&M is exactly what the OP is looking for. I tried it in my car. It was too extreme for me, so I switched to the BMW Performance SSK.

Love my UUC Evo3 and DSSR (although the latter needed shims but I went to UUC and they took care of it for free).

same here!

the B&M shifter is really great! very short shifting and as precise as stock.

you can buy it for $170-180 new.

The B&M has considerably shorter throws than the BMW SSK, which I liked. It clicks audibly into each gear, which is okay I guess. But it felt sticky shifting in and out of 2nd, which was the deal-breaker for me. I probably would have gotten used to it, but I disliked the 2nd to 3rd shift and 3rd to 2nd shifts because it was high effort to get it into or out of 2nd.

Go for the B&M, I've had it for almost a year now, was my first mod and well worth it got it new in box for less than $100, it does have a little side to side play but can get rid off with new selector rod bushings or DSSR, I'd say go for it if you are on a budget, if not go with Rogue or UUC
