Power all the way to redline...stock turbos

After I got 2 new VANOS Solenoids and got my HPF exhaust installed and updated my Procede maps to the new V5 1-21 Beta Maps I decided to head back to Mach V and put down some numbers. The power difference(hp and tq) in the new maps is noticeable in the mid range rpm(2500-5000); power was MUCH more noticeable specifically...top end. There was about 100whp and 100wtq gain at the 6700-7100rpm range!! POWER ALL THE WAY TO REDLINE....FINALLY(great work Vishnu)!! Between the HPF exhaust and the new maps I was very pleased with the changes. The exhaust was able to help the turbos spool more efficiently but as HPF said, these gains will be much more noticeable after the turbos/turbo are upgraded. (450+whp) These runs were done on the same dyno at Mach V Motorsports, the only difference in the runs were the maps(V4 firmware #29 vs V5 1-21 beta), exhaust, the ambient temps and only 5 gallons of Sunoco 104 vs last time when I added 10 gallons...so the octane on the first runs were obviously higher. about 100octane the first go round and 98 the second time. The ambient temps on the first runs(blue) were 61F and the second set of runs(red) were recorded at 71F. That explains the HP loss, I know its only a few HP but Dan(owner of Mach V) said that temps alone would explain the loss. The overall Tq gain was VERY evident(+27wtq peak) on pump gas and I believe that was partly due to the HPF exhaust. Even on the 50/50 mix (93 and 104=98 roughly) runs showed a 10wtq peak gain...again I believe it was due to the exhaust. I will post some videos and more charts when I have more time. I also datalogged each run so you hardcore guys can see whats going on behind the scenes on each of the new runs. They will be posted shortly...The first dyno is on pump and it compares the old run(blue) to the new runs(red). The thing I am most pleased with is the power is held all the way to redline as apposed to the old maps where power dropped significantly after 6500rpm. Any feedback is greatly appreciated...and again I will post the logs shortly, they are on a different computer and I need to transfer the them to this new laptop. Let me know your thoughts...good or bad. I also posted this in the dyno chart compilation but I figured it would get some more traffic down here in the new topics threads. Has anyone else dynoed their car using these maps? If so please post them here so I can compare. The power up top is amazing.

If for some reason you have compatibility issues with viewing the dynos here is the photobucket link: http://s1203.photobucket.com/albums/...999/?start=all

You dont see 100whp/100wtq gain from 6700-7100rpm....which is what everyone gripes about on here. Everyone...including me wishes they could hold power to redline and not have it drop off like it hit a wall after 6500...well here you go. Its not as much power as I would like at redline but im gettin there. You need to check your glasses my man

Penn,

I can see the graphs. Nice numbers and write up.

What caused the Vanos solenoid failure(s)? Costly?

Warranty my man lol. They generally just go bad around 50k miles is what I was told by a few educated individuals...I knew they were bad bc I went to the dyno and was running lean a F*&% over 5500rpm. That can be very dangerous and I am now checking AFR's daily. Actually I am doing a custom gauge setup and getting a wideband AFR gauge as well as an IAT gauge/monitor. Im still trying to figure which brand and what colors...etc.

Any service engine soon light come on because of the bad solenoids? Im just curious how you got the dealer to replace them for you. The dealer closest to me wont even touch my engine unless there is a service engine soon light.

The HPF exhaust did NOT gain +27wtq over your old exhaust. If both were catless thats just the truth. Now there are many other factors that could play a role in that tq bump - such as no knock up top resulting in a little more timing through to redline. BUT in no way shape or form can you attribute that to an exhaust. If you were going from an extremely small diameterr (say 2") exhaust with cats to a free flowing exhaust you might be able to get a decent gain. Not being a dick. Just trying to help because misinformation can lead others to believe what shouldn't be.

Aside from that the dynos look great. AFR is a bit lean until the upper mid range.

Yup, half engine light after a WOT run. Like a hard 3,4,5 pull and I would get limp mode. Have to pull off of the road and restart. And yes you are correct, dealers/techs cant do shit without codes. (if you have the Procede just turn Canclear off and put it in valet mode when you take it in there). I dont recommend taking a modded car into your dealership but if you have hookups..just leave it in valet mode. I think they said it would have been about 500-600 if it werent warrantied. Those of you nearing 50k miles should monitor AFR's, my car was running dangerously lean.

fixed. impressive numbers.

as for indy99gpgt, with bad solenoids, you'll get a code and then limp mode. sticky solenoids, either intake, exhaust, or both. don't want to deal with the stealership? buy two, replace them both (takes no more than 20 mins).

Haha wow man, I was never trying to imply that the exhaust gained 27wtq over the AA, just that I think it helped with the gain but the biggest change was obviously the mapping. I thought I explained that the gains would be most evident with power levels above mine.
