home theater question (specifically, contrast ratios)
looking to buy a home theater projector soon and it looks like JVC DLA's are gonna be the bee's knees. the two models i'm looking at are the dla-x9 and dla-x7. the only difference between the 2 units is the x9 has a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and the x7 70,000:1. the other difference is a $2000 markup on the x9 for the extra juice of CR. my question is simple...worth the extra $2k? i'm trying to justify the extra expenditure but can't so far.

No. If I remember, the human eye cannot even differentiate contrast ratios above 2,000:1. Also, "dynamic" contrast ratios are meaningless. Just do a Google search for "contrast ratio myth".

I wouldn't think it would be that much of a difference in actual viewing. Not 2k worth at least. I think you get diminishing returns when you start getting that high in price difference for little changes.
