BMW of Sudbury service?

I had a not so good experience with my last service. I am hoping this was an anomaly. I'd like to hear your good or bad experiences with this service department. I may not go back there but the location is convenient for me.

Please share.

Cheers!

Long story short, brought the car in for rough cold starts. Rough might be an understatement as the car was bellowing black smoke like a coal train. They replaced the hpfp and all six injectors. Noticed a new ding on delivery and they took care of it as well as another one in the area which wasn't caused by them. No problems with communication, thumbs up.

This was my service experience at BMW Gallery of Norwood if you want to compare experiences...(granted...my normal SA was not working that day)

SA Dennis Smith (yes I am putting him on blast) telling another SA that we were working with now because Dennis would not work with us even after my CA told him to give me a loaner:

"These are the guys that were WHINING about not receiving a loaner car and I spoke to Ron and he does not want to mess with these guys so we are just going to give them a damn loaner"

SA Dennis Smith as he walks away:

"We will just inconvenience all of our other customers just to satisfy your needs"

My friend, the SA and I were in complete shock. The SA that we were working with actually was playing dumb the entire time because he was just as shocked. I have never experience this type of service in my entire life so I obviously wrote to the dealership as well as BMW USA. Surprisingly...I have not heard from either place.

btw. I purchased my vehicle there too.

Haven't been there but my buddy is a service writer at BMW Gallery Sudbury. He'd be the young tall looking guy. Hopefully the place doesn't suck. I don't think he would bullshit you if you are lucky enough to get him.

That's a strange story....

I'm not in the business, but (especially with BMW's) I have to wonder if these places realize that a crappy service experience is a deal-breaker on the next purchase.
I've got 12000 on my 330i- never been in for service short of the "free" yearly oil change.
But, if I had a bad experience (really bad, not "not great", if that makes any sense!) I'd walk right over to sales and say "Oh, I'll never buy another car here, so don't call me in 3 years or at lease-end"
I work too hard for my money.

Exactly the way I feel about BMW Gallery of Norwood and actually BMW in general. Neither the dealership or BMW USA has replied back to my complaint. That tells me that they don't care that I was treated so poorly by one of their associates. Ah well...cars are getting less attractive to me now anyways as long as I have my bikes

Don't forget you live in New England. The worst weather and roads in the country. If the rain/ice/snow/salt doesn't get you, you might fall into one of the caverns in the middle of our roads.

I obviously don't ride in the winter, hahaha.

I am just saying that having a nice car like a BMW is becoming more and more of a nice to have whereas before I was all about having a nice ass car. I am currently driving a 99 Ford Ranger pretty much every day.

I know that haha. Just suggesting that people who ride bikes around here at 50mph are probably in more danger than someone in another part of the country doing like 80+ thanks to our reputable roads and our cool calm collected level headed drivers...

I gotta say.....

and yes... thread hijack.
When I look at BMW, Porsche, Audi..... great cars- and yeah, there's something there that it's hard to put your finger on....I never had a car feel like my '98 M3 did- like it was crafted from a single billet of aluminum.
But the value? I don't see it anymore.
If money isn't an issue at all, well- discussion over.
I make a nice living- but I have varied wants- from a new $15000 deck I need to have built this spring, to a new $9000 dirtbike (my real passion), so there are several ways I like (need) to spend my money.
I think much of the luster and "value for the $" is long gone from the higher-end imports. I remember looking at a Boxster and an S2000. Boxster was a great car- but $70K? The S2000 was $35K Was the Boxster better? You bet. Was it $35K better. Not on your life!
Same goes for Honda and Toyota- Hyundai and KIA have ended their reign. Honda owned it from.....'75-'95 (just throwing out some years) I bought an '83 Prelude. I had to beg to just get ON the WAITING list- no choice of color... maybe choice of tranny.. if they liked me.
The Japanese did it to us, the Koreans did it to the Japanese, the Indians will soon do it to the Koreans and, shortly, the Chinese will do it to the Indians.
My point? I have no freaking idea.
Naw..... just saying that I'm not dropping $75K on a BMW. Too many other cars out there that are too close in quality and performance for HALF the money.
Yup... I'm done.

You guys should take a short ride north to NH. BMW of Stratham has an awsome service Dept. Brought my 08 328i in for its low milage yearly service and it was done flawlessly. They also changed the wipers, changed a burned out brake light.
The following day they had an Owners Event at the dealership. They fed us and introduced us to all the SA's and some of the tech's. The SA's explained all the benefits of going there. The head tech took us through the shop and expained all the equipment and answer any and all our questions. This dealership realy bends over backwards to make its cutomers happy.

Stratham BMW is about 70 minutes (60mi) from my house. Peabody is 50 min (35 mi). Sudbury is 20 min (12 mi). This all based on google maps.

I am going to give Peabody a go next time. I just ordered a new X5d from them and the experience up to this point has been positive. Stratham is a bit too far away for me.

Quick update on my recent service at BMW Gallery of Sudbury. Worked with Kevin Waters (Service Advisor) there and he was awesome. As of right now...BMW of Sudbury is my primary service dealership.

I bought my car from Sudbury dealer and I like their service, but I gave them my car for service once and it came back with a door ding.

Is that Kevin Waters? If so, he was fantastic and I didn't even use your name.

Another bad experience. My wife took her X5 in for service to get a seat belt fixed. They told her they would have a loaner but when she got there there was nothing available. She had to wait 30 minutes for them to round something up. When she picked up the car (they had it all day) at the end of the day it took them 30+ minutes to get the car. Not a single customer around and they had the truck parked behind a bunch of other cars. They couldn't find the keys to get the cars out of the way. They new she was coming and they should have had the car out and ready. They weren't even busy.

I'm sorry...BMW of Sudbury does not know how to treat it customers. I'm making the trek to Peabody from now on.

Looks like the worst part of it was just waiting. Were they putting up a fight about a loaner and what time did you pick the car up? Was it late in the day when they may have been low on people? Not completely defending them but I have had much much worse customer service than that.

btw. what was the first bad experience? And if you really want to know about bad service...read my post about BMW Gallery of Norwood.

It is, and he is. Has a passion for cars and BMWs especially. Not just in it for the money. He genuinely would want you to be happy with your car. Glad to see a second recommendation for my buddy.

Do you know what...that's the exact first impression I got from him when I went in for my service (some asswhipe threw something on Rt. 2 and completely shattered my sunroof). I bet your friend remembers me since I just had the service done about 2 weeks ago or so.
