Insurance Coverage for Rear Bumper?

Some lady reversed into my rear bumper while I was at work, and we're both going through AAA to get my rear bumper fixed.

Deductible is waived, and I plan to go to LTBMW to get my rear bumper replaced.

I currently have a standard OEM rear 328i bumper no PDC, but I was looking towards replacing it with the M-Sport Rear Bumper (with possibly a nice diffuser).

The adjuster needs to come and assess the damage, but from other friend's experiences, it's replaceable (paint ships and paint cracks and two visible dents).

Question is does it matter that the OEM bumper sells a little over $400 + paint + install versus the M-Sport + diffuser which can be easily twice as much? Meaning, if I wanted to get the M-Sport bumper, would I have to end up paying the difference of the OEM vs. M-Sport?

First time going through the process, so I wanted to get some opinions and experiences. Thanks!

Same thing happened to me, someone ran into my rear bumper. I got it fixed through insurance. I got the repair amount quoted at one of my insurance company's approved body shops. Then took it to another body shop and had them install a m-tech rear bumper and I just paid the difference which was only like $120

It's not hard to go through the process if you body shop is wiling to help. I got my M Performance front bumper through my body shop. It was an extra 100 over the stock oem bumper and they waived it for me. Best of luck.

Unless your body shop is willing to substitute the original for what you want, there’s no way you can claim the M-Sport Rear Bumper from regular car insurance.
