Enable EfficientDynamics (Shift Indicator) on 6MT
Thanks to NiVeDh:
This feature is for 6MT cars only. It basically tells you when to upshift and downshift and to which gear for maximum fuel efficiency. It normally suggests upshifts at very low RPMs (~2000). It works well. Once coded, it can be enabled/disabled through the OBC by pressing the BC button the indicator stalk until the instrument cluster goes to the blank screen (not displaying anything such as mpg, range, etc.). Once there, holding down the BC button for around 5 seconds toggles the feature on or off. Here's a video: Here's what to code... Module: KOMBI SP_ANZEIGE -> aktiv SCHALT_PKT_BC -> aktiv Enjoy. |

is there a way to code the actual number gear the car is in for MT? it seems pointless, but it'll look cool.

Is coding something that can be done by me in my driveway with a BavTool?
EDIT: Nevermind...I didn't even realize there was a coding section

My best guess is that those are for the steering wheel that has lights (///M).
sorry I meant to say the instrument cluster that has lights over the revs. |

EDIT: the triangle appear on my dash but they don't do anything
My buddy said that it might be my SSK. I didnt believe that to be the reason but i cannot think of any other reason why

I have the same problem and I have a 328i as well. People on the 'other' forum are saying the same thing. If anyone with a 6MT N52 car are able to get the arrows to work please let us know how you did it.

When I use NCSDummy to check the option, it shows the option is available on N52 engine with ACEA_CO2, which mean you need 1CB (ACEA / CO2 SCOPE) in your VO.
I own a 2008 328 6MT, I try to enable the indicator, but no luck. Same result as everyone that has 328. And when I check my VO, I don't have the 1CB option. If anyone has a 335 6MT, you can check if your VO has this option. If you do, that will confirm that 328 has a missing component, so it cannot be done. You can use the following link to check your VO. http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html |

I activated this in my 09 335i with bmwhat. I tried to do it in my wife's 11 328i and it showed the up and down triangles but not the gear change info.

- Manual cars with start-stop capability have a neutral position switch on the top side of the gearbox - The gear ratios fitted to a specific car are part of the ECU programming. So when it's in any gear, it looks at the speed & rpm & says 'I'm in gear x'. This is how the ECU then tells the driver (via the instruments) that there is a better gear to be in! - If the ratios don't match, e.g. you've had a gearbox or rear diff change which are not like-for-like, the ECU won't be able to calculate what gear it's in. It will not relearn the ratios. - If the ratios don't match, your gearchange indicator (german: Schaltpunktanzeige) will not work. - If the ratios don't match, your cruise control will not work. It is feasible for someone to reprogramme the ECU with the new ratios, but this is NOT a simple coding adaptation using NCS. If you have a new (different) gearbox in there, reprogramme using the new ratios. If you have a new diff, you will need to work out what the relative gearbox ratios are as there is no parameter for the rear diff as far as I'm aware. |
