Australian motor shows- a waste of time and money?
After seeing all the great stuff being shown at the Geneva motorshow on TV and the net, (not to mention all the other big motor shows such as Tokyo, Paris, Detroit, Frankfurt etc) it makes me wonder why the organizers bother to have motor shows such as those in Melbourne or Sydney. Not enough concept cars and too much showroom stuff- i.e. stuff you can see in any showroom (and instantly take for a test drive for free!).
Some may say that it is good because all the manufacturers are together and you can compare and contrast without driving around town. Fair enough but I'm not interested in the Toyota stand unless they bring more of the stuff they show in Japan. I would happily pay to see stuff that I can't see anywhere else. I know it's a rant but it would be nice if the organizers put a bit more effort to entice manufacturers to bring more exotic stuff here for us to see.

And as you said, most of it is showroom stuff which i've already seen up close.. well apart from the Ferrari's and top-top-end stuff which my budget presently won't permit me to indulge in.

I've been a couple of times in the past but felt ripped off so I don't go anymore. Pity the australian market is so small.

no aston martin, no lambourghini, and they were missing one of the other high up brands... all the other stands were pretty sucky too, and all the bimers were in gay colours

When the next Sydney motor show is held im definately going to find out what car manufacturers are there before i enter. When i was last there i only stayed there for half hour and that was with me sitting down in some areas of the convention center. There wasn't much at all, im not the kind that would go to KIA and Hyandai so i skipped a few manufacturers but it was a real blow that Porsche and some other big names weren't there.

Anyone who owns a KIA should be shot!
Knowing nothing Intelligible about Automobiles Why buy one of those things when you could get into a mid 90's e36 or even an e30 both so much superior to those P.O.S's!

Well Chris GM has finally gotten a grip on reality..they OWN a great company like holden and they don't use to it's full potential..I not really sure about the Auto shows..but the Holden EFIJY they made is awsome:rocks: , and for a yank like myself..likes the different cars , but i guess Auto shows are based on how important the place is to the Auto world in General.. one day I'll tell how I made a wrong turn and was in kings cross
