JL Stealth Box for E92 --> Ft. Lauderdale Members?
I reached out to JL regarding a stealthbox implementation for the E92s and here's their reply to me:
___________________________ The 335i coupe is not yet on our development list, primarily because we don't yet have a vehicle to pattern from. If you know of anyone in the Fort Lauderdale area who might be interested in working with us, please have them contact me. This is a vehicle we would like to do as soon as a vehicle becomes available. Thanks, Don Vertrees ___________________________ So, any takers from members in the Fort Lauderdale area? If so, PM me and I'll pass on Don's e-mail to you! |

I received the same response from Don when I inquired about the E90.

Any updates to this thread? I had also contacted JL about a stealthbox and was thinking about providing my coupe for the R&D, but since delivery of my coupe didn't go as planned I can't even consider it for now. But maybe if I get the vert they'd be interested in that.
Anyhow, here's more info from Don regarding what's involved from a reply I received from him just in case anyone's interested. Quote:

I haven't heard anything and never kept in contact with them since I didn't want to eat up the little trunk space I have on a top-down E93 with a box.
I may ask them if they'll consider using their upcoming thin line TW5 subs for an under seat stealthbox application though. That would be great if it could be made to work since I don't know if there's enough air space down there for what those subs require. |

you won't be able to come up with the air space (~.3ft3) for the 10", much less the surface area to fit the 10". They are only planning a 10" and 12", at least initially. I will say they are pretty badass though... (I've seen working prototypes, and I know someone who worked on the project). I'm impatiently waiting on the 10 for my Z3, currently have a 10W0 in the footwell, and the missus will appreciate the extra foot room when I can finally glass a smaller/thinner box down there...

can't pay for something that doesn't exist yet though (well, I guess you could). if someone would do it, it would help the rest of us out too ( as well as garnish you with a free stealtbox that you couldn't get period otherwise)
