Get rid of skunk smell?

I hit a skunk today (stupid animal was dead on the road and if I would have swerved to avoid it I would have hit on coming traffic) and now my car smells terrible. I sprayed it off but it still smells like skunk and now the smell is in the garage. How do you get rid of such a smell?

No the front area smells like shit lol. And the inside of the garage now smells since the car was parked in the garage for 2 hours. I think I am just going to do a full detail tomorrow since the weather looks so nice!

1/4 cup Baking Soda and one quart Hydrogen Peroxide with a couple squirts of some good degreasing dish soap like Dawn. Trust me. I've used this on everything from cars to dogs to small children.

If its on heavily, a regular wash probably wont do. Nor get it out of your garage anytime soon if it spread.

I recommend stopping by petco and picking this up:

http://www.petco.com/product/5988/Na...t=OnSiteSearch

My dog always gets sprayed 2-3 times a year and this stuff always gets the smell off in 1-2 washes.

I'd spray your car with it and leave it on affected areas for 5-10 min. It's safe on skin, hair, clothing, carpet, etc. So it should be fine on interior as well.

Now I've never actually used it on car paint, but If you do go this route id put it on a small area- somewhere unnoticeable and see if there's any undesired effects, which i doubt there will be.

take it out of the garage, so you dont stink that up, and tomato juice bath works well on pets, so I bet it will work and wherever you got skunk juice

Forget the tomato or lemon juice. Neither work at all.

Isn't tomato juice acidic? Have any of you guys actually tried putting tomato juice on you paint?

good point, I'm guessing the stench is mostly on a wheel or tire though, since its a small animal and probably wouldn't have contacted any other portion of the car

Most carwashes use an Acid Wash/Base Rinse system. The Acidic water helps lift dirt more easily. However, it won't do anything to lessen the skunk smell.

If you hit the skunk and it sprayed or blew its glands, the Thiols are everywhere.
