Why does my 335I feel slow? The clutch also feels like its slipping. I have a little more then 1200 miles on it. Does anybody else feel like their car is slowing down? Is it likely for the clutch to start slipping at 1200 miles? Only other manual car I've driven was a 92 civic hatchback (which was my toy so i can learn to drive stick). Anybody got any tips on driving manual? Or know of any common newbie mistakes?

I personally nailed mine leaving the lot after pick up. Drive it like you stole it is what dealer told me. He said that break in is not needed. Up for debate I guess. Anyway, the car seems to have gotten stronger as the miles added up. Now have 4800 miles and it screams. This is me and may not apply to others.

go drive a beater then come back to your car, it'll be fast again.

It might be perception or you might have a problem with your fuel pump. The dealer has a simple test they can perform to see if the pump is defective. A symptom of the defective fuel pump could be reduced power under acceleration.

As to the clutch tips, do not drive with your foot on the clutch pedal. Some people rest their foot on the clutch pedal (or the brake pedal). This greatly accelerates wear. The process of engaging the clutch puts a lot of wear on the clutch. You want to engage the clutch quickly in order to reduce the amount of wear.

A healthy clutch with regular usage typically lasts 50,000-100,000 miles or more depending upon usage. The odds of a healthy clutch failing at 1200 miles are slim, unless the user abused it or the clutch was defective.

Of course, on my S2000 the clutch delay valve was defective, which caused continual slippage. This fried the clutch within 5000 miles.

Man this car is slow. Maybe I should gotten a Evo or STI. I'm starting to think even the 350z and G35 may be faster then this car. I'm gonna have to talk to my friend and ask him how he feels about his 400hp Evo after driving it for about 2 months now. Wonder does he feel the same way I do.

You know, if he thinks it is slow and is comparing it to an Evo or an STI, then maybe it is best if he get an Evo or an STI. The 335 is not even remotely supposed to compete with those two cars. The 335 is a refined luxury/sport sedan that makes great power. The Evo and the STI are designed to be "boy racers." They have large turbos with lag so they feel fast.

The 335 is not that type car. If you want that feel, then buy one of them.

one of my friends has a 2002 Mustang GT with a Stage 1 Steeda package (G-Trac Suspension and a few visual mods like body kit, rims, ect.) and he has pulleys that add like 10rwhp. He raced an STI from a stand still and stuck with it the whole time... he only has like 240rwhp or something... my 335 will destroy his Mustang. so either that doesnt say much for the driver of the STI or it says alot about this mustang and the 335...

Have you looked to have the CDV(clutch delay valve) removed with the dummy one?

but the 335 is faster than the evo stock and the same as or faster than the sti

My car was almost the same as yours. it was very fast in the beginning, then at around 1200 to 1300 it was "slower". it was probably my imagination too, but after I changed my oil (break-in oil change), then the car gradually became faster and faster...seemingly settling into its own kinda. Now its a beast. And I don't even have the Procede box in it yet.

Did you change your oil yet?

If you want a race car for the road, the Evo is a good choice. It accelerates fairly quickly above 3k rpm. It has extremely sharp steering (this is my favorite part about my car), and surprisingly high levels of grip. There is a lot of aftermarket support if you want to make it even faster...

Of course, there are downsides. It rides slightly more comfortably than a race car in daily driving, it accelerates like a Lancer below 3k rpm, and the interior quality is far from what could be called luxury.

It all depends on what you're looking for, whether you want to modify your car or not, and how fast you really want to go.

I've owned mine for two years now (at month's end), and while I don't regret the ownership experience, I'm starting to contemplate a replacement. See... I love the Evo on open roads, particularly twisty ones, where speed enforcement is lax... but I hate it in traffic. Maybe I'm starting to get old.

By the way, from everything I've read, the 335i is a bit quicker in most situations (non-drag race), both stock and with basic mods (the ProCEDE is quite interesting). It will probably be awhile before anyone breaks into the 10's with a 335i, but when/if it happens, I'm betting the car will be much more driveable in everyday situations than an equally quick Evo or STI.

350Z? I had one of the first in Texas. BOO! Was a let down from day one. The attention was all the satisfaction I got. Old 88 Z I had was more fun to drive. Had no soul at all. To me anyway.

No where close.

Define "no where close". A couple grand will see similar gains on an Evo IX... the VIII are slightly more expensive. Plus, consider the fact that the Evos are $15-20k less brand new than the 335i. Of course, as I said above, it's a different kind of car.

LOL...............stop comparing the two cars, they aren't even in the same class............if you want a cheap car to easily mod then you go for the EVO. If you want a classy, better looking, safer car then you get the 335i.........
