Sport mode and manual shifting
Hi,
I just bought a 2007 335i automatic. When accelerating hard in normal mode, the car shift just like an other automatic I have owned. When accelerating hard in sport mode or changing with the paddles, the shift is very rough (almost like a manual). Is this normal? Or do I have a problem? Thanks in advance. |

Its normal, in sport mode the car will be very rough/ sporty. When you slow down, it feels
Sorta weird and when you floor it, it will hold the gear even when you let go of the gas. |

Like everyone here said, totally normal. I was pretty shocked as well when I first drove an auto 335. DS mode is very agressive and makes the auto semi fun. The paddle shifters are pretty fun when cruising some back roads!

Normal.
I went from a 335i 6-speed to an auto. I was pleasantly surprised how the car felt in DS! I've had cars with 'trip tronic' automanual shifting and the 335i FAR exceeds my expectations. Either in DS or in manual mode, it really gives you that sporty feeling. Like another member said above, take off the traction and REALLY have some fun! (be safe though!)

When you first go into DS mode, it will shift for you but it has a more aggresive shift pattern and holds gears. As soon as you either use the paddle shifters or the gear selector shifter (in DS) it goes into manual mode (M1-M6). Once you are in that mode you choose the gears. But, and someone correct me if i'm wrong, if you hold a gear way into redline, I think it upshifts for you. I guess the car kinda goes "wtf you tryin to do mate."

yes but not at redline. it will shift for you even in M.

i wanna try the hold to redline and shift cause when im going full throttle sometimes even in manual mode it down shifts for about 400rpms instead staying in 3

pressing it makes it "kind of fun".
pressing it and holding it down pretty much completely disables any traction control in your car and makes it REALLY fun. |

it shifts hard when it's cold too, HAHA !!!! i still think the tranny lags a bit and it's slow on the shift - well, compared to the SRT8 that's tuned to shift hard and quick. |

Plus not to mention, when traction control is on, any rough shifting or bumps u encounter, automatically retards the engine and slows u down. With traction control off, the car is a different animal. Just be safe, not everybody knows how to drive without traction control...
