![]() ![]() I used that sponge on some areas of my car like an idiot cause of some hard to get stains that wouldn't come off with no matter what car product i had....So i had to resort to using that stupid sponge. In result its left a bunch of smudge marks on my car...I have a feeling I may have scratched the clear coat of the car. My car seriously looks like it had a horrible Wax job and its really noticeable at night. I need some help guys...do i have to buffer those certain areas? Or is there an easier solution to this problem? This is how my car looks now...going to post a night pic later.. ![]() ![]() [IMG] ![]() |

Looks like swirl heaven. You're probably gonna have to compound and polish that out. Either take it to a pro for a detail or check this out
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=490005 And for the future, if you won't scrub your face with it then don't scrub your paint with it. |

That will produce some massive deep scratches, some maybe too deep to polish out. You need to take it to a true pro with a paint thickness meter, you will have to remove a few .1 mills of paint to get them gone!
You should never compound a cars paint until you really know how much you have to work with. Removing too much paint will jeopardize the UV embedded into the clear coat. Where in Florida are you located. I have some good leads for TOP quality detailers. Cheers, GREG

Those are scratches unfortunately, not smudges. Gonna have to polish it out with some aggressive polish. And that looks like some sort of brillo pad not a sponge.

Don't use scour pads on your car. You will scour it lol.
You're going to need a polish, a porter cable, and may as well seal it when your done. You may need a two step polish depending how bad it is. Can't see exactly from one pic. |

The damage could have been much worse, even though is just one pic. I think you better take the care to a pro detailer and see your options. As already mentioned, you will likely need an aggressive polish.
