Bumper Repaired by Unique Car Care

My bumper was recently scratched in several places by an overzelous parrallel parker. I was looking for a reasonably quick and easy solution without having to go through insurance, and I brought my car to Rick Nelson at Unique Car Care in Wakefield. He did an awesome job filling in the scratches and touching up the paint (and undoing the hideous touch up paint correction that was attempted prior). I've posted some before and after pictures below. The price was very reasonable and well below the prices quoted by the dealer and bodyshops (who were quoting based on complete removal and repaint of the bumper). If you really look close with a flashlight you can see some slight inconsistency in the paint, but from any normal view it looks flawless. I also replaced the diffuser with a whole new part for $90 from Tischer BMW.

I highly recommend Rick's work. I also saw some of the detailing work he was doing on other cars in the shop (Porsche Cayman, Porsche 911, M3 Competition Package, 135i and others) and it looked great. His shop is right in Wakefield Center, just a block or two from the Commuter Rail stop. Look him up if you're in need detailing or paint work (on the forum as RickRack).

My sense is that pricing is highly job specific, so I don't know that what I paid would be applicable to another circumstance. However, I bet if you send some pictures he can give you a quote or at least a ballpark.

Rick and Ryan do the BEST detailing work in New England, hands down. Looks like a great result!

wow looks great. I'm certain I've seen your car a few times in Cambridge, it was the first LCI m-sport i'd seen on the roads and it made my jaw drop. Super nice ride.

Real close by. I may have to stop by and get a few little ugly spots estimated.

Thanks. Gimme a honk next time you see me.

Not easy to keep it clean on the streets of Cambridge, but I'm trying (and now religiously parking in my driveway).

Can't wait to put the summer rig back on.

Is the damage near an edge? You can probably take it to a PDR place. Post a pic for us to see.

I came out this morning to find my honda ruckus had fallen on the bimmer luckily just the handle bar rubber grips hit it so it is just a minor scratch REALLY small, but it makes me feel like shit inside just the same. I am thinking of taking my car to Rick based only on this thread and dealing with bad body shops in the past. I have a few small 1/4 inch or so spots on the rear drivers side by the door with chips. I have OCD, so I try not to let this shit bug me, but deep down it drives me crazy.

I know its very different each time, but can anyone give me a ballpark for fixing small stuff? Am I going to be looking at several hundred to fill and blend a handful of 1/4 inch dings and scratches? A thousand bucks? I'm having a rough morning today.

Sorry to hear It's best to call Rick and get an estimate from him. No one else will be able to tell you how much you'll charge for your specific situation.

I just sent him a PM on this site. I might even stop by the shop today after work and see if he can give me a ballpark so I can save up and schedule something. I just don't know what to expect so I'm pretty bummed out.

Rick will get my business for sure. The things I have seen on the web are amazing. Didn't realize he does Clear-Bra too.

I'll be getting my car touched up and an exterior detail from Rick as soon as I get some OEM touchup paint for the car. I can't wait. I'm sure it'll look better than ever. After meeting Rick and seeing the shop and talking with him I am confident that it will be well worth the money.
