some new detailing toys, need advice porter cable/menzerna polish
Alright well after having my E46 ruined by the dealer and my newer cars needing some attention, im gonna invest in a few new toys.
What is the overall feel on a kit like this? http://www.detailersdomain.com/theub...es16ozkit.aspx Will this be enough to remove swirls and holograms? |

Ive used PC's once before i have some experience with it, not sure if i should go with menzerna, hoping someone within the forum have used it and has some experience with it and how well it cuts and corrects the paint.

My only input is the pads, not enough to do a car correctly. Basically need 2 or 3 of each color for one car and generally it's better to have 3 or 4. The issue is getting the polishes to finish down with dirty pads. Other than that kit looks solid and polishes are a personal choice with what you like and how they work. Menz is good stuff.

IMO, powergloss is for rotary use only, not the PC. It will screw up the finish pretty bad sometimes requiring more than powerfinish to clean it up.
you should just order separately: PCXP 5 orange pads 4 white pads 2 black pads 2 blue pads meguiars 105 menzerna 203 (powerfinish) Menzerna 85rd chemical guys ezcream glaze blackfire wet diamond, or menzerna powerlock nattys blue carnuba wax about 10 MF towels 2 WW drying towels a light duty claybar clay lube (I dont like using a shampoo mix with my clay) That will give you a whole line of products to handle everything. |

Pads purchased separately from an initial "kit" purchase of a polisher can be expensive. As long as you're still shopping, you may wish to consider the Flex kits. Bought mine online at Autogeek. http://www.autogeek.net/flex-orbital-polisher.html If you're budget allows, go with the Flex, especially since you'll be maintaining multiple vehicles (and your time is valuable). |

Should suffice I have about 3 pads of each color.
But you only need 2 pads at most for one car. You can always clean and re-use. If you cant get your swirls out with that kit..... its you! ![]() Oh get blackfire wet diamond for sealant. OTC wax are crap. |

IF you're going to order more pads, which I think you really do need, you can get them in a six pack mix and match for $35 LC CCS 5.5 inch pads good quality pads (definitely need a couple more Orange and White). Also for wax you can think about using Collonite 845, it's a WOWO liquid built proof wax that will last close to 6 months for $15 a bottle, You apply that by machine as thin is best, If you do get a glaze make sure it's a acrylic glaze as sealants will not bond to oil based ones very well if at all. Hit Eric up for the pointers he offered as he is very good.
