Bluetooth Pairing then Dropping

Ok, you gurus here is the problem.

I have a 2006 330i non-iDrive (built before June 2006, purchased 06-29-06) , using a Sanyo Kantana (Sprint).

I can pair, no problems.

However, after pairing, usually 30 to 60 seconds just after the car display goes from a:

( check-mark) Sanyo Kantana

to a:

1. Sanyo Kantana

it drops the pairing and then searches and does it all again. If I just sit there and do nothing but "accept" the pairing it will cycle doing the same as above, 6 times in about 10 to 12 minutes.

From the video on the BMW site I'm doing everything right it is just the pairing does not hold long enough for the address book to load and be displayed.

Any ideas?

I know it is useless to go to the dealer. I have search the threads for the dropping problem but have not come up with any.

Thanks,

Dean

I have the same problem with my Blackberry Pearl... Some have had success disabling the Address book transfer (if you can do that), but of course it wont work on mine...

Presuming a compatible mobile pairs properly, it is pretty easy to deduce that the device you are pairing is simply not compatible.

I Guess I Didn't

buy the BMW for the bluetooth.

I bought it for the DRIVE!

I'll just use my bluetooth ear piece and leave the BMW's bluetooth turned off.

Maybe one day BMW will have a more user friendly (widely adaptable) software package.

Thank You "JSpira" for all of your research and insight with the BMW bluetooth issue.

This has had to be a very frustrating endever you have been working on.

Thanks & Good Luck,

Dean

Thanks Dean.

We´re almost done. Tested 24 mobile phones. Just finishing up the results and making the chart nice for the Web.

I learnt a lot from this, believe me.

Ok, I called a Service Advisor at BMW of Fairfax, VA, and explained to him my problem with the pariing then dropping. He stated that his Shop Foreman was the one to help me with this problem as he does this type of help alot.

So I went in to see him. Hank (Shop Foreman) asked if my phone Sprint Kantana was "on the list" and I said not but others have it working. Also, I told him that the Official BMW List of Approved Phones was over year old and BMW is very slow in helping the customer with issues.

Anyway, he did as I had done and got the same results on several trys. He then went and got an "approved phone" and it worked as it should. The only problem is that this LG phone is "over a year old" and not with my provider. He said I need a new phone and I corrected him and said, I guess I need a new "old" phone as any new phone (like my Kantana) will not work with the software that is loaded in my March built 2006 330i. He said yes that is what you are left with.

That's it.

BMW has never been known for it's great customer care.
