warranty ends in two weeks.

my e90 warranty ends in two week.
and i have appointment this sat for service and recall...
i want to check or repaint everything before warranty ends.

what should i ask to check or repair???

Oil filter housing gaskets, interior parts that are peeling, power steering lines.

I would pay an independent shop $60 to inspect everything. My $60 investment found about $300-400 in items that needed repair.

The BMW dealerships I've gone to don't cover interior parts that are peeling. Like the Trim on the Steering Wheel.

12 months for paint peeling, bubbling, discolored tho it's easier to file within the 6 months.

12 months also for brakes, tires, and alignment.
- Brakes squeeking, vibrations, etc you know the faults
- Tires bubbling on sidewall, excessive road noise, balance
- Alignment first 12 months it's covered assuming no accidents, impact of something etc..

How Warranty Works: Service Advisor first examines the problem and gives a rough "yes" or "no" if it's covered or not. Paint and Glass replacements will usually have to get approved by a Service Manager (no your advisor is not a Manager) and possibly shop foreman, get to the why later.

After the Service Advisor writes down your complaints or takes note of your concerns it's off to the tech to take a look at it. While most common problems are fixed using a Technical Bulletin - Meaning the manufacture, BMW, says okay this is a common problem to overall save ourselves money (to prevent a tech from dicking around and getting paid excess diagnostic time) we're going to simply say if concern is something similar to "A" we're going to fix it with "B" and let the car go. If the car comes back then do actual diagnostics on the car. (getting off topic now lol)

Back on topic, so if you take your car to a service advisor you simply cannot say "Hey take a look at my car and fix everything warranty could cover please." Now while that'll be a service advisors (they're on commission btw - largely from warranty work not from customer pay) wet dream, tech's too.. This isnt "allowed" by BMW. The deal goes if the customer is not complaining and it is not a safety issue or recall you're not allowed to add a line to the work order to fix the complaint. You may ask why? but part of the reason is they dont want customers to take their cars in for a service and come back with 20 pages of work on it... and while you do not take home the Internal or Warranty copy which will include how much the tech flagged, spent running time, internal notes, etc.. you have to sign this document at the cashier - and some people do read and request a copy. Also if the car is ever in court for buyback or lemon all service records can be used. So inshort.. Be professional and nice to your service advisor and just let him know that you'll continue to take the car to him and recommend him to your friends, shit throw in you'll give him a bone on e90posts or something. And promise him that you'll give him a perfect survey (they get paid and praised off this). And have him work with you..

Paint, paint is ify to cover because many times it wont get covered since evidence isn't going to be sent back to BMW aside from pictures. Which is why they have that many sets of eyes look at it before covering it.. Some times a dealer will just paint it and eat it internally or bill it to new car sales (sales, parts, and service dont really work together in the way you think). When dealers make warranty claims a booker/time keeper will put in the time codes to pay techs and submit them with a fault code to BMW (categorize the job/line/each complaint: suspension, chassis, engine, transmission, powertrain, etc..) and stuff like paint, brakes, tires, alignment goes under a little finer comb at BMW USA then other more common jobs.

Why all this matter is because dealer only represent BMW they're not ran or owned by BMW USA in anyway. Dealers are a 3rd party company that proposed to BMW and is authorized to deal/service/sell their parts and cars under a set of rules and undergo training. BMW also holds the right to audit any of these dealers and dealers always pay lol.. always.. with faulty warranty claims.. most of the time just written wrong by the booker advisor or tech. So it's not cause they're stingy or an asshole it's just how it works.

It's not bullshit, BMW wont pay them for it so how can they cover it. Now if you've bought a handful of cars from this dealer you'll have better luck talking to sales to eat this interally for you. Most people dont have this kinda relationship with their sales department but believe me some do.

there is a TSB from early last yr that says not to replace any trim. in order for them to replace they must take a picture and then send to germany and germany will decide. most dealers probably know this wont get approved and dont want to hassle with it, so they just say no.

for the few dealers that do replace trim, they are either paying for it out of pocket or going the extra mile to get it approved to retain customer loyalty.

make it so its loose then yeah it can be replace.. blemmish/scratches/fading (UV damage) arent covered
