Ticking noise at idle JB4 installed
I have a JB4 in my car, and have been running Map 1 for a good month now. The other day I started my car and realized I left my bag in the house. I hop out (car still idling in the garage) and when I come back I hear a "tick-tick-tick-tick..." noise coming from the engine. It sounded like the valves were smacking down (had a similar noise when I added 93 OCT fuel to my wife's Prius by accident/habit).
So my questions are these: - I have since switched back to the Map 0 (pass through) to see if the knock sensors will retard/advance the engine to stop this from happening (I have no idea if this will work) but would the addition of the timing add-on BurgerTuning is working on alleviate this issue? - Is it something I should be concerned about? (I doubt it) - And will switching back to Map 0 fix the problem? Thanks for any/all help. Note: I'm just looking for some answers, not to change my chip/tune.

Fairly common stock or modified and has nothing to do with tuning. They say either a noisy injector or lifter. If it bothers you remove mods and dealer it for their opinion.

Both my 135 and 335 make this noise at idle. I bet when you rev the gas it goes away, and when the car is fully warm the noise disappearly completely.

Mike is right...happens to alot of people that I know including me and its normal...Happens to me when I start the car and just warm it up but dont drive it at all, the next time I start the car it does this ticking noise until I rev the rpms or take the car out of the garage!

Good enough. Honestly my Wife's Prius was much louder with 93 OCT in it than the BMW is. I never heard it in the car, it wasn't until I was outside while running that I could hear it. Probably always been like that and never knew.

I've had a ticking after warmup for a long time. It eventually goes away. I assume once oil properly circulates through. Not a big deal. |

When I first got my car 2+ years ago I noticed the same sound and took it to the dealer, I pointed the ticking sound out to the SA who then called a tech out to inspect on the spot and they determined the sound is normal...
