sending maps thru maps.google.com

i've been trying to send maps to my car for the past couple weeks and they have not been appearing in the 'message' area on my iDrive, even though, when online, it prompts 'successfully sent'.

but, concierge messages come thru...

any idea's as to why i can't send them myself?

I had the same problem. Call BMW customer service. It took several phone calls and weeks, but they finally came through. Just be persistent and tell them you want it fixed right away.

Also, from my experience there's nothing the dealer can do. It's a network problem.

The car can only hold a handful of addresses. I cleared out my history of sent addresses and updated. They started to pot up.

my car would only hold 10 messages.
i've cleared them out, but the problem still persists.
i'm going to have to call customer service and see if they can sort it out over the phone as i'm about 100km from the nearest dealer, who generally does more harm than good.

Not gonna happen from Google on your phone - only from Google on your PC or Mac.

You can also do this from your iPad when you use the web browser in the iSwifter app. Just tried this 2 days ago in it pops up in my X5 messages under BMW Assist.

Thanks for the informative reply, makes sense now why I couldn't find any details in the manual.

So how does this normally work with a 2009+ using a PC/MAC? The reason I ask is because I was thinking about doing the CIC retrofit which would essentially give me the 2009+ nav system in my 2007 car (or 2011 nav if I do the dual combox upgrade). Depending on how the PC/MAC communicates to the car's nav system, it may or may not work. If the added communications link is part of the car/ECU then I'm outta luck, but if it's part of the CIC system that gets retrofitted, I may have a shot at getting it to work.

I think you'll also need a BMW assist account

I think one of the first US bmw to have the "my info" feature was the 2008 X6. Then the "my info" which does the google maps link trickled down to the other lines. Corrected if I'm wrong. Maybe the 7 series had it before the X6.
