330d Loan Car

Just picked up a loan car because of the long wait for my car and WOW!!!!!

330D M-Sport - I think i will definitely get some points when I get my 335i E90!!

That thing shifts, and for a diesel all I can say is VERY VERY impresssed.

Just makes the wait for mine even more of a nightmare!

BTW - Owners of 330d, do I need to use Ultimate Diesel or just normal?

Please stop this - I pick my 330d coupe up from the stealers on Friday and the waiting is just killing me!!

I only ever got to test drive the 320d so am chomping at the bit to try the 6cyl diesel for the first time. Then there's always the tempting thought of a trip to DMS for even more poke!

Mine is manual though so I'm not sure whether the gearbox would be able to handle all that torque?

Will post some pictures Friday pm. Watch out for it - Montego Blue with sports suspension and the 18" alloys.

I had a 320d for about 18 months and while it was a good car, the six cylinder diesels offer so much more but obviously lose out in the economy stakes. The two 330d that we had since were both autos (preparing us for the 335d that we have now).

I'm sure you going to enjoy it.

Just a quick ??, is there an easy way to know if this car has HI-FI Loadspeaker system installed? (non-idrive)

If not, it seems quite good for a standard setup.

From the E91 brochure I've got on the desk it looks like the HiFi and Logic7 have speakers in the doors just forwards of the grab handle (that the std doesn't).

I'm afraid I clueless really, but perhaps these are a clue. It doesn't look like they all have speakers in the rear doors.

ah ha!

The pricelist for the E91 lists the following:

HiFi - 10 speakers:
4 midrange (2 in front doors + 2 in parcel shelf)
4 tweeters (2 in front doors + 2 in parcel shelf)
2 bass under seats

Logic 7 - 13 speakers:
2 bass
6 midrange (2 in each door + 2 in parcel shelf) I make that 10! Unless it's front doors only?
4 tweeters (2 in front doors + 2 in parcel shelf)
1 midrange in the centre of the instrument panel

As standard it just says "Loudspeaker system". I would surmise that it may be the HiFi setup without the bass units.

Just had a look in the car and it does not have speakers in the rear doors.

I cannot see/feel any bass subs under the front seats.

Hopefully then its the standard - means that i need not worry too much about not ordering hi-fi or logic 7!

One way you can see if you have the standard (in Europe) loudspeakers is to see if you have a tweeter in the top of the front doors where the mirrors are.

If there is NO tweeter, you've got the standard system

Hope this helps.

Bugger!! Its got tweeters each side near mirrors.

Does anyone know how much difference this makes to the standard system.

I think the standard system is rather poor. Its well worth a upgrade to hi-fi loudspeakers

Saw the standard, played with it in showroom. Not sparkling. Even less than that.
So I ordered HiFi (well Logic7 was a bit too much).
After the car came in, one of my first concerns was to listen to the audio and find out if I shelled some 500EUR for nothing.

It blew me out of my shoes. Both as power and as quality.
Now maybe there are some other (better) systems out there, but I surely do not regret getting this one.

I had standard speakers on my E90 and upgraded to the Hi-Fi speakers on my E92. Its noticably better, its clearer, the base is sharper and its geninuely more enjoyable to listen too. Definately worth the money.

Hmm, I'm quite happy with the standard speakers. You get the bass under the seat. Though I do listen to Five Live most of the time With cds or MP3 cds playing it's way better than the stereo in my old car so I have never thought (up to now!) about whether I'm missing out.
