Wheel setup issue

OK, so here's my dilemma. I just traded in my G8 GT for a 335d, and surprisingly they both have the same lug pattern. I still have the set of 20's I used on the G8 for the summer:

Front 20x8.5 245/35/20 +35
Rear 20x10 285/30/20 +40

The company I got them from confirmed that this setup is the correct fitment for an E90 also, but the tires are about a 1/2" taller than recommended. He said to try anyway, so we mounted one rear and one front to check.
I was shocked to find that the wider rear rim actually tucked nicely with 3 guys sitting on the trunk! They just touched on the backside edge of the fender which can be rolled.
The problem was with the front wheel. When we mounted it, before even bolting it on, the tire was touching the coil! Everywhere I've checked for a 20" setup the recommended tire width is 245 which my tires are, so I'm figuring my problem is with the offset. Will bringing out the wheel with a spacer solve this issue? If so, what mm thickness should I use?

ET35 should fit fine in the front.

Will a 5mm spacer possibly work? +40mm is the farthest out I've seen so far for a 20x8.5 rim up front.

A 5mm spacer on a ET35 wheel will make it ET30, not ET40.

Tires are to wide in the front for et 35. a 235 is as wide as you can with that set-up up front without rubbing issues of any kind. adding a spacer will get your wheel/tire away from the strut, but you will rub the fender, so will need to roll the fenders. might just be cheaper to buy 2 new tires.

I think you want a 245/30/20 up front and 285/25/20 rear

Ill have to agree with Gavin on this. The sizes you have above are a bit too tall.

OK guys, so here's the update. I ended up ordering 245/30/20's for the front and I'm getting the rear fenders rolled this week. My question now is, will I need to roll my front fenders also even with the correct tire size? I was contemplating doing it regardless just to play it safe, but if not necessary then I won't bother.

Any advice?! So far from what I've read the biggest issue up front with 20's is slight rubbing on sharp turns. I guess in the meantime I'll just roll the rear fenders and see how it goes.

Guarantee the G8 has a different hub bore size than BMW, so you'll have to get the hub bore enlarged to 72.56mm on the wheels. Also, G8 might use 14mm vs 12mm bolts.
