I also have the same question. Also, what is the best replacement out there for all four? I have been looking at a few options, comparing widths and weights. Anyone have real experience. From previous cars, I know that manufacturers vary greatly within a stated size. For example, one 225/50 will be wider than a 225/50 from another manufacturer.

I run 235's up front and 265 in the rears. I'm really happy with the setup so far.

I think he's specifically referring to the OEM 18" rims (8.5 rear). I've seen people run 235/265 with the same profile without issues. 265 is definately the max on the rear 8.5" rims. Honestly, there's little difference in contact area between 255 and 265 on that rim width, so if the price difference isn't marginal, I'd go with 255's. I highly recommend the Goodyear F1 Gs-D3's. They are the best dry surface tire I've owned, and the wet performance is amazing given the tread pattern.

you can go 265 on the stock 8.5 wheel. 245 is as big as you can go on a 8 in. wheel. If you're going to go staggered, I would go 235/35/ front and 265/30 back.

Why would you want a wider tire on a stock rim? Just to have 265's? If you want wider tires, get wider rims.

Installing wider tires on a stock rim only adds to amount of rubber that shifts side to side as your vehicle maneuvers through turns. This excess rubber will have a negative effect on the cars steering/handling characteristics. Adding more rubber is good for a truck you'll be using for off-roading, not for a performance car.

Keep in mind, whenever you change direction and the cars mass is pushed toward the outside of the turn, while the rubber on your tire is pushed inward. The more rubber you have, the more distance that excess rubber has to travel, reducing the vehicles response time to your steering inputs.

Less rubber = quicker handling response.
