My Experience: Beta 2007 Cobb + Dearship Work vs. PROcede DIC
Hey folks,
I wanted to give the N54 community some feedback on both tunes which I have been running for quite some time now. I want to preface by stating that I have no allegiance to either company and that I'm simply writing this review to disclose MY personal opinion. I'm a busy medical student, so I'll do my best to write a complete review in the little free time I have. My car: Late 2007 E92 6MT w/30k miles My current mods: stock + tune PROcede: When I first ran the pre-DIC maps (12/17) I my car threw several codes and little strange things would happen like my radio stopped working. I would get half-engine codes all the time. When they'd appear, I'd just turn the car off, clear the codes and be on my way with no further issues most of the time. Overall I enjoyed the increase in power, but there was a noticeable loss of refinement and smoothness post-tune. There was also a slight vibration and hesitation while accelerating through the gears. It now felt like I was driving a turbo car. The power would hit hard and hit fast. I upgraded to the 2/14 DIC firmware which was a HUGE improvement and addressed the smoothness issue 95%. Light years more refined and was simply was simply a pleasure to drive. There was more top end power accompanied by a more linear delivery. I was VERY pleased with the update. I took my car to the track and was able to manage 13.2 107.9 totally stock with shitty launches. I was a believer in DIC technology and consequently was a very happy camper. Cobb: I went ahead and flashed my car with the latest 2007 support a few weeks ago in an attempt to compare what in my opinion are two of the best tunes on the market. Install was a breeze with the COBB Accessport. I'd simply plug the hand-held unit into my ODB port and let it do its job for 20 mins. For my personal circumstances, I don't have the time, tools or frankly desire to go underneath my hood and mess with wiring and taking my car apart. Going to the dealer or updating the constantly evolving firmware was a real PITA. I realize that there are people on this board that can swap out the harness in 2.46 minutes, but for me it was a real hassle. Plus I have an Apple computer and did not want to partition my hard drive just to be able to run windows to support the Vishnu software. The fact that the Accesport Manager runs on OSX was a major plus for me. I just got my car back from BMW after having my HPFP and injectors replaced at the dealership with no problems whatsoever on my 2007 AP. I was terrified they'd find some ghost codes or whatever, but the process went smoothly. The Verdict: The DIC update was the culmination of years of hard work done by the engineers at the Vishnu camp. I was skeptical that I'd be able to find anything better. In my honest opinion COBB IS BETTER IN EVERY REGARD! I was blown away. The car accelerates SMOOTHER than stock, so smooth and the power delivery so linear I feel like I'm driving a freaking V8. At the track I also managed a 13.2 but at a slightly higher 108 mph with worse launch. But really for all intents and purposes, speed is about a wash. The COBB is much smoother and I prefer the power delivery on my 6MT versus the PROcede. I have some ICarbon downpipes awaiting installation and I'm looking to upgrade my intercooler to cope with the imminent Texas heat as well. I'll be doing some more testing with some logs and hopefully video very soon. I want to try and make it out to the track again next week with the downpipes installed. Things are also getting interesting with the fueling updates that are the works. Anyone want a PROcede? PM me I want to give a shout out to Brey335i for giving me a hand with my PROcede at the track last week. Lets hit up next week bro! -Marc |

The Stett CAI is nice. You can really hear the turbos spool. Not sure how much of a difference it makes, but I assume it's better than a DCI in Texas. Class of 2006 here |

Lol Hook 'Em!
Glad you're happy man, also glad I could help uninstall the Procede for you (although it took more than 2.46 min or whatever lol) I should get my car back from the shop this week. So let's try to hit up the track and we can put the COBB up against the Procede. |

For the record, my sub-13 second run at SAR only hit 111 mph... and my friend's Turbo e36 M3 only hit 122 mph last time he was there. Like I said, seems like a slower track. |

Good review.
IMO the Cobb is miles ahead of all the other tunes on the market today, especially considering how long it's been out (not long). I have nothing but good things to say about it. I am so excited to see what the future will bring for BMW and Cobb.

Just FYI... You don't have to partition your Mac's HD to run windows. Just install XP in a VM, I personally use VMware Fusion for this. Awesome product. I personally like being able to download a Windows based file to my Mac, launch it from the Mac, and seeing it automatically being passed to the Windows VM to be run there.

Indeed. Definitely more stable than running Windows on the hardware directly. Besides it also fixed the issues with USB port timing out when doing Procede updates. Now I don't even have to bother having the laptop plugged in when doing the updates.
