Did I do this wrong? [zaino]
Hi everyone,
my first zaino pack came in the mail yesterday i got Z-AIO and Z5pro because i read it was the basic requirement for my jet black car so what i did is: 1. dawn wash and dry 2. put Z-AIO and it was kind of humid out so i let it dry for a good 45 minutes 3. Wiped off the AIO 4. Applied the Z5 without ZFX or whatever 5. let dry for like 2 hours 6 wiped off then after that i wasn't COMPLETELY impressed with what i got so i just topped it with meguiarsNXTtech wax is there anything i did wrong?

You didn't do anything wrong. What about the look isn't impressing you? Was it better after the NXT? If so the issue might be the fillers in NXT, but I will wait for your reply to go into that.

I'll differ with Picus and say from a Zaino perspective, you did do something wrong. NXT is essentially a cleaner wax that will strip off whatever other wax/product/etc is underneath. In your case, the Zaino you applied was removed after layering the NXT over top.

I'm willing to bet this is one of those cases where the car probably needs polishing, so Zaino didn't look great, and NXT looks better because it's doing some filling. |

you need a few layers to notice the 'wet' look. A couple coats of z5 should do the job!

Also: z5 is designed as a filler wax to help repair small scratches, swirls, spidering, ect. Z2 is what you use for the ridiculously deep finish Zaino is known for.
When I used Zaino on my old car (haven't gotten more yet for the new 335 yet), I did the following: Washed with my favorite soap 1 Coat z5 2 Coats z2 And called it a day. -Ghent |

Typically with the initial application of Zaino, the first layer doesn't build the expected results. I would recommend that you apply three layers of zaino, if it's your first time applying to the car, then you'll definitely see the shine.
Just like the op, I wasn't overly impressed when I applied the first layer, but after the 3rd layer along with Z6, I was amazed at the results.

When I did my Zaino process, I found the Z5Pro is a great filler for those scatches. However, its gloss and shine is not as good as the Z2Pro. Get a few layer of Z2Pro on top of it and you will love it!

I didnt claybar, and mine turned out fine. Claybar isnt necessary on new paint. Its too excessive to clay a car that has a 1 month old paint... (if you bought it new)

i noticed that the car looked "wetter" after the NXT yes its new paint and i think you're right about the polishing because i dont have that porter cable that everyones so hyped about...haha i have this 6" thing from walmart...i know its dangerous but another concern i was having was when i read the sticky it said you top the Z5 over the Z1 and buff them off at the same time and i was wondering if AIO was supposed to be used the same as the old Z1 in this way also im kind of confused because i dont have ZFX and the sticky said wait 24 hours? so layering will take multiple days?

I understood that with the tape and chemical coating on these cars....that clay barring was a good idea on a new car. |

And yes, without ZFX you will need to wait 24 hours between layers of z2/z5. I need to update the sticky to reflect the new products. |

New cars are when you really want to use it! They run into all kinds of things along the way such as rail dust and industrial fallout. Not to mention paint overspray, road tar, and possibly acid rain deposits depending on how long it sat somewhere.

I don't know....Zaino is the best product I've ever used n terms of finish and ease. Claybar is a must and the first couple coats suck up the zaino to get a base...here's from one of my other posts.
