new owner with questions

Hello, im new to this forum... ive joined as ive just purchased a e90 in graphite grey on a 06 plate. Just wanted to ask a few questions as im just getting to know the car.

Its a 320d...

Cambelt or chain?
Xenon or Halogen? (sorry about the obvious)
and the price range this car would land in.

Headlights will depend on spec. If they are bright bluey white, chance are they are Xenon.

It's not a belt.

Xenons have headlamp washers. People don't usually spec washers on standard headlamps.

When you put the lights on, you can see Xenons doing an automatic level check. (The light pattern falls then rises.)

All 6-cyl have headlamp washers! You'll know for sure if you have xenons if you dont have the beam levelling wheel beside the light switch!

Halogens do that too.

The best way to tell is that xenons have NO manual range adjustment wheel, they have a projector lens and they have the high-voltage warning on the slam panel.

Alternatively, drive it at night and see if you can see where you're going.

Your car is a pre facelift like mine so if it has xenons then you will have angel eye lights (the ring around the light that glows). If you don't have this then you have halogens.

Why do you need to know the price range that the car would land in? Didn't you just buy it? The price will depend on spec, condition, mileage etc.

I would have said between £9.5K and £10.5k using Parkers as a rough guide.

The non standard speccing of xenons on E9*s, especially the six pots is one of the car selling crimes of the century.

Guess who hasn't got them? Dammit.

It is standard on the E92 - "even" the four pots.

E92s get all the toys as standard.

Except enough doors. And enough boot space.

Sadly not true. Mine has elec. folding mirrors but the fucking things don't dim

Does anyone know if the dimming mirrors can be retrofitted without the need for coding etc?

It's what Glasses Guide says. I guess if you bought retail then it would be 9.5k - 10k

He's obviously not a car trader so I'm not sure what use a trade valuation is, he's going to have paid retail I would imagine.

Autotrader can be a funny old place sometimes. I paid £11k for mine and it's very highly spec'd. I'd say £9k was probably about right for yours although you've not given us a great idea on the full spec
