overheating...?
Well today starts off well. Woke up, coffee, ready for work, and the best part, the ride to work. I hop in the car (335i) and hed towards work about 15 min away. It was about 52f outside today so it was decent. About 5 minutes into the ride i hear the bell sound and notice the temp light was on. My temperature guage was pinned over the highest temp. I pull over and started freaking out and shut the car off. Tried pushing the SOS button and SOS malfunction came up. Now im heated. I dont have my cellphone on me nor does the freaking SOS work. i waited aabout 20 minutes (late to work already) and start the car on and temp was down to normal. Drove to work and now im on here. Im calling to schedule an appoitment and have the car taken care of.
ive searched and seen issues where the temp's dont stay the same but nothing of this sort. Btw, there was coolant in the car. Kinda scared a new car would do something like this. input highly appreciated. |

Hmmmm, did the warning say whether it was for oil or coolant? Sounds like oil from the gauge being pegged, but you never know. This is the first I've heard of a 6spd overheating.

maybe its a thermostat issue. usually you can tell by feeling both hoses on the sides of the radiator. if there is a drastic change in tempreture from one hose to the other usually means a stuck thermostat. this wouldnt be the first BMW i have seen this on. keep us posted.

well what i found funny was the light in the middle of my console came up, but no warning on the navigation screen, or the little display with outside temp, etc. The temp was for the coolant i believe.

You should try the SOS again in general to activate your BMW Assist and talk to the operator... takes about 8 mins.
