i rang bmw regarding service light.. they asked what kind of service i need and to provide information of what symbol appears in service info menu...

the women told me its an m.o.t light.. my m.o.t was done last month.. but my car is due for a service too (looking at previous dates on the service book).. but what kind of service would it require :S ??

MOT light looks kind of like ~o~, but vertical. Easy to reset yourself for the correct month next year.

Service is mileage dependent, too - scroll through your BC or iDrive and it will tell you when the car thinks it's due for a service

Use the twiddly wheel on your BC stalk to scroll through the BC functions until the MOT symbol is displayed on the little screen. Press and hold the button on the end of the stalk for a few seconds, it may ask you if you want to reset (I can't remember off the top of my head), then you get the month and year for its next renewal displayed.

Press the button to select the month, use the twiddly wheel to change it, then press again to set. Same for the year.

HTH

Don't you have a handbook with your car?
